Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh preheat terhadap kekuatan tarik dan kekerasan menggunakan pengelasan SMAW dengan material API 2W Grade 50 berketebalan 20mm. Proses dilakukan untuk menemukan solusi pada masalah yang muncul selama proses pembuatan PQR dan perbaikan material setelah dipasang pada topside platform. Proses preheat pada material dilakukan untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut. Hasil penelitian diharapkan akan mengungkapkan pengaruh preheat terhadap kekuatan tarik dan kekerasan material API 2W Grade 50. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menentukan suhu preheat yang optimal untuk digunakan pada pembuatan Topside platform proyek Qatar selanjutnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua jenis pengujian: NDT (Magnetic Particle) dan pengujian kekerasan serta kekuatan tarik. Parameter pengelasan meliputi Ampere 115-160, Volt 25-26, Travel Speed 6-7 mm/s, dan Heat Input 24.6-35.6 KJ/cm. Sambungan las yang digunakan adalah sambungan tumpul dengan kampuh single-bevel dan Filler metal LB-52U (diameter 2,6mm) untuk penembusan serta LB-52 (diameter 3.2mm) untuk pengisian. Setelah pengelasan, material didiamkan selama 48 jam untuk pendinginan udara. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh variasi suhu preheat (40°C, 65°C, dan 90°C) terhadap kekuatan tarik dan kekerasan material API 2W Grade 50. Metode NDT (Magnetic Particle) digunakan untuk mendeteksi cacat atau retakan dalam sambungan las tanpa merusak struktur material. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengaruh suhu preheat pada kekuatan tarik dan kekerasan material API 2W Grade 50. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan suhu preheat terjadi peningkatan pada ultimate tensile strength dan Yield Strength. Kekuatan tarik meningkat dari 494 MPa (pada suhu 40°C) menjadi 539,85 MPa (pada suhu 65°C) dan mencapai nilai tertinggi 653,72 MPa (pada suhu 90°C). Peningkatan kekuatan tarik ini memiliki dampak positif pada kekuatan material dalam proses pengelasan SMAW Posisi 3G dengan Material API 2W Grade 50. Laju pendinginan yang lambat juga berpengaruh signifikan pada kekerasan rata-rata pada Base Metal, HAZ, dan Weld Metal, menunjukkan efektivitas proses pengelasan ini dengan hasil yang kuat dan tahan lama. Sebagai rekomendasi untuk proyek Topside platform selanjutnya, disarankan menggunakan suhu preheat optimal sebesar 90°C untuk mencapai kekuatan maksimal pada pengelasan SMAW Posisi 3G dengan Material API 2W Grade 50.

This study aims to determine the effect of tensile strength and hardness produced from carbon steel that has gone through a preheat process with SMAW welding using API 2W Grade 50 material with a material thickness of 20mm, using Ampere 115-160, Volt 25-26, Travel Speed 6-7 mm / s and Heat Input 24.6-35.6 KJ / cm, the weld joints used are blunt weld joints (Butt Weld Joint) with single-bevel potency and metal filler (material plus) used is LB-52U with a diameter of 2.6mm for penetration and LB-52 with a diameter of 3.2mm for charging. The problems that can be taken are how the effect of 40°C, 65°C and 90°C preheat treatment on the tensile strength of API 2W Grade 50 material, how the effect of 40°C, 65°C and 90°C preheat treatment on hardness tests on API 2W Grade 50 material, what temperature is suitable to be used as a reference for the manufacture of the next Qatar project Topside platform. This research uses two types of tests, namely non-destructive testing (NDT) using the Magnetic Particle method and destructive testing, including hardness testing and tensile strength testing. The purpose of this test is to identify the effect of preheat temperature variations on maximal tensile strength and yield strength in the 3G Position SMAW welding process with API 2W Grade 50 Material. The NDT method using Magnetic Particle is used to inspect and detect defects or cracks in welded joints without damaging the material structure. Meanwhile, hardness testing and tensile strength testing are performed by damaging the test specimen according to AWS standard D1.1-2020. The results showed that every time the preheat temperature was raised, the ultimate tensile strength also increased. This is evidenced by the increase in tensile strength from 494 MPa at 40°C, to 539.85 MPa at 65°C, and reaching the highest value of 653.72 MPa at 90°C. In addition, preheat also has an impact on yield strength with a more stable value when the preheat temperature is increased. This increase in tensile strength has a positive impact on the strength of the material in the SMAW Position 3G welding process using API 2W Grade 50 Material. Furthermore, the results showed that the slow cooling rate also had a significant influence on the increase in tensile strength. After 48 hours of air cooling, there was an increase in the average hardness of Base Metal, HAZ, and Weld Metal, indicating that this welding process is effective and provides strong and durable results.In conclusion, In the next Topside platform module manufacturing project, it is recommended to use the optimal preheat temperature of 90°C as a reference to achieve maximum strength in 3G Position SMAW welding with API 2W Grade 50 Material.
