Abstract

Pabrik precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) dilakukan melalui proses karbonasi.

Precipitated Calcium Carbonate plant is processed by using the carbonation process. The plant is designed with a capacity of 42 tonnes per year within 330 days a year. The plant is expected to produce PCC to fulfill the industrial needs for paper fillings. The raw material of the plant is sludge waste from the tannery industry. The plant is designed to establish along with the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the tannery industries area or Lingkungan Industri Kulit (LIK) in Magetan, East Java, The plan is summed up by many considerations, which the primary aspect is the availability of raw material. The carbonation process of making PCC is operated at a temperature of 30 °C and a pressure of 2 bar using a bubble column reactor. The bubble column reactor has a conversion rate of 75% to convert CO2 in the carbonation process. Based on the economic evaluation study, it can be estimated that the plant’s capital (CAPEX)
is Rp14.090.400.000 and the operational costs (OPEX) is Rp6.262.400. The study can also estimate the internal rate of return (IRR) on investment which results in an IRR of 5,9% with loan interest of 8.06% per year and WWAC of 11.1%. The payback period (POT) can not be found since the cumulative free cash flow results are negative throughout the life span of the plant. The net present value (NPV) also results negative, so that, it can be concluded from the feasibility study that the plant of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) from sludge waste of the tannery industry in Magetan is not feasible to set up.
