Abstract

Industri pengolahan MSG mampu memproduksi banyak MSG setiap bulannya.

The MSG processing industry can produce a large quantity of MSG every month. Operations within the factory are carried out for a full day without interruption, which is one of the reasons they can produce a significant amount of MSG products marketed throughout Indonesia. The production process involves various main stages such as fermentation, isolation, and purification. In the isolation stage, there is a separation process aimed at separating α-glutamic acid crystals from the fermentation liquid using the Super Decanter Centrifuge (SDC) equipped with collection tanks. Each collection tank has an agitator to keep the liquid homogeneous and a pump to transfer the liquid to the next stage. So, in its operation, it certainly requires a source of electricity. The purpose of this experiment is to analyze and calculate the energy efficiency and maintenance costs reduction of each unit of the process. The results obtained from this experiment show a reduction in energy consumption of 44.8 kW/H or approximately 1075.2 kW/day. The daily energy cost decreases to 1,103,848 Rp/day or 369,789,174 Rp/year. Additionally, maintenance costs are reduced by Rp. 10,200,000.00 each year. All these improvements were achieved without decreasing nor increasing any tank capacity, meaning that the storage tank capacity remains the same between the existing and modified versions.
