Abstract

Weeds are one of the plants that can inhibit the growth, development, and productivity of crops so humans try to control them. Weeds can disturb humans with a variety of certain intensities. Teapot grass (Cyperus rotundus L.) is a perennial weed plant that grows in tropical or subtropical areas. It can grow wild in gardens, farms, fields, and roadsides. Generally, farmers try to control their cultivated plants with synthetic or chemical herbicides, but if used continuously, it will have a negative impact on the surrounding ecosystem. Therefore, research on plant-based herbicides that are more environmentally friendly needs to be studied to determine the potential in inhibiting weeds in agricultural areas, plantations, and fields. This study uses bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides L.) leaf extract, which is considered wild but has content that has the potential to be used as a vegetable herbicide. The content of phenol group compounds is also alleged to have the potential to control weeds so that it also has the potential as a vegetable herbicide. Parameters carried out are by measuring plant height (TT), wet weight (BB), and dry weight (BK) to determine the potential of bandotan leaf extract (Ageratum conyzoides L.) in inhibiting teki grass weeds (Cyperus rotundus L.). The results of this research test obtained a significant effect on the difference in height and wet weight of teak grass (C. rotundus) plants between P0 (0%) with P1 (40%), P2 (60%), P3 (80%), and P4 (100%). While the dry weight results were not significantly different between all treatments. Physiological teki grass showed no significant difference. Bandotan leaf extract (A. conyzoides) is able to control the growth of weed grass (C. rotundus). Phytotoxicity test results showed that starting from 80% and 100% concentrations affected the condition of abnormal leaf shape and colour until death. The concentration of extracts that have the potential to inhibit the growth of weed grass (C. rotundus) is shown in P1 (40%), P2 (60%), P3 (80%), and P4 (100%).
