Abstract

Kabupaten Tulungagung merupakan daerah yang terkenal sebagai produsen atau sentra kerajinan marmer di Indonesia. Lokasi industri marmer terletak pada bagian selatan Kabupaten Tulungagung yakni Kecamatan Campurdarat dan Kecamatan Besuki terutama di Desa Gamping dan Desa Besole. Di Desa Gamping terdapat 42 industri marmer. Pada sepanjang jalan di pinggir Sungai Ngrowo pada Desa Wates ditemui banyak pabrik pemotongan marmer. Beberapa produk yang dihasilkan oleh industri marmer memiliki ukuran standar yang sudah ditetapkan sehingga tanpa disadari dari hasil pemotongan tersebut menghasilkan limbah sisa potong marmer. Oleh masyarakat sekitar limbah tersebut tidak digunakan kembali karena memiliki ukuran yang terlalu kecil dan memiliki kualitas yang kurang baik. Padahal jika ditinjau kembali, limbah sisa potong marmer dapat diolah kembali menjadi produk dengan estetika dan nilai jual yang tinggi dengan metode upcycling. Produk yang dapat berpotensi dari pengolahan limbah marmer adalah produk furnitur terazo. Coffee Shop merupakan salah satu bisnis yang sedang berkembang di Indonesia dengan gaya interior yang menarik. Dari fenomena tersebut, penulis melakukan perancangan mengenai eksplorasi material limbah sisa potong marmer menjadi produk furnitur terazo. Material marmer yang memiliki kekuatan serta keindahan dalam coraknya yang berpotensi besar untuk dikembangkan menjadi produk furnitur coffee shop. Perancangan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan value dari limbah marmer serta mencegah terjadinya penumpukan limbah marmer yang beresiko pada pencemaran lingkungan. Hasil dari perancangan ini berupa stool, coffee table dan barstool.

Tulungagung is an area that is well-known as a producer or center for marble crafts in Indonesia. The location of the marble industry is located in the southern part of Tulungagung, namely Campurdarat District and Besuki District, especially in Gamping Village and Besole Village. There are 42 marble industries in Gamping Village. Along the road along the Ngrowo River in Wates Village, many marble cutting factories. Some of the products produced by the marble industry have standard sizes that have been results of these cuts produce waste pieces of marble. The local community does not reuse this waste because it is too small in size and low quality. The remaining pieces of marble waste can be reprocessed into products with aesthetics and high selling value using the upcycling method. Products that have potential from processing marble waste are terrazzo furniture products. Coffee Shop is a growing business in Indonesia with an attractive interior style. From this phenomenon, the authors conducted a design regarding the exploration of waste material left over from pieces of marble into terrazzo furniture products. Marble material which has strength and beauty in its style has great potential to be developed into coffee shop furniture products. This design is expected to increase the value of marble waste and prevent the accumulation of marble waste which is at risk of environmental pollution. The results of this design are stools, coffee tables and barstools.
