Abstract

Kontroversi seputar peristiwa Gerakan 30 September (G30S) di Indonesia telah menjadi isu yang sensitif dan kontroversial, terutama terkait isu kebangkitan Partai Komunis Indonesia (PKI). Hal ini tercermin dari Media Survey Indonesia yang menyebutkan persentase masyarakat Indonesia (46,6%) yang masih percaya pada isu kebangkitan PKI dan menjadikannya agenda tahunan, khususnya pada periode pilpres tahun 2019. Ketakutan dan paranoia terhadap PKI tampaknya menjadi hasil dari latar belakang masa Orde Baru, di mana cerita G30S hanya diceritakan dalam satu versi, yang menyebabkan minimnya sudut pandang yang beragam dan informasi yang objektif. Dari fenomena tersebut dirancanglah suatu media yang mampu menceritakan lebih dari satu versi cerita G30S sehingga sejarah dapat dipandang dari lebih dari satu sisi, media tersebut adalah Visual Novel dengan pendekatan multiple Choice.
Luaran dari perancangan ini berupa buku cerita interaktif yang disebut Visual Novel yang mengangkat peristiwa G30S dengan pendekatan multiple choice yang memungkinkan untuk menceritakan peristiwa tersebut menjadi lebih dari satu sudut pandang cerita sehingga terdapat lebih dari satu kemungkinan rute cerita terjadi mengikuti 4 teori utama G30S, yakni teori PKI, TNI-AD, Soekarno dan Soeharto
Metode penelitian yang digunakan berupa data kualitatif yang meliputi studi literatur dari sumber buku, catatan, dan dokumentasi sejarah, data tersebut diperkuat dengan wawancara ahli sebagai konfirmasi data. Setelah data dikumpulkan, perancangan mulai dieksekusi menjadi beberapa tahap yang dianalisis bersama ahli secara berkala sehingga menghasilkan prototype, prototype diujikan kepada sample user testing dan disempurnakan lagi menjadi desain final. Perancangan ini diharapkan dapat menambah referensi masyarakat generasi muda terhadap sejarah khususnya G30S serta memberi pemahaman bahwa terdapat lebih dari satu kemungkinan sejarah dapat terjadi sehingga lebih bijak dalam menanggapi fenomena yang terjadi pada masa kini.

The controversy surrounding the 30th September Movement (G30S) event in Indonesia has become a sensitive and contentious issue, particularly regarding the issue of the alleged resurgence of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI). This is evident from a survey conducted by Media Survey Indonesia, which revealed that 46.6% of Indonesians still believe in the PKI resurgence and consider it an annual agenda, especially during the 2019 presidential election. The fear and paranoia towards the PKI appear to stem from the background of the Orde Baru era, where the G30S event was narrated in a single version, resulting in limited diverse perspectives and objective information. To address this phenomenon, a media that can present more than one version of the G30S event is designed, allowing history to be viewed from multiple angles. This media is a Visual Novel using a multiple-choice approach.
The outcome of this design is an interactive storybook called a Visual Novel, which portrays the G30S event using a multiple-choice approach, enabling it to be narrated from different perspectives and presenting multiple possible story routes following the four main theories of G30S: PKI, Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI-AD), Soekarno, and Soeharto.
The research methodology employed qualitative data, including literature studies from books, notes, and historical documentation. This data was complemented by expert interviews to confirm the data. After collecting the data, the design was executed in several stages, periodically analyzed with experts, resulting in a prototype. The prototype was tested with sample user testing and further refined to produce the final design. This design is expected to enrich the reference materials for the younger generation's understanding of history, especially G30S, and provide an understanding that history can have multiple possibilities, promoting wiser responses to contemporary phenomena.
