Abstract

The rise of construction projects in various regions indicates that the construction sector is currently growing rapidly, but in practice there are problems that often arise, namely leftover materials or waste materials. Construction waste material whose control or utilization is not planned properly can harm the project and damage environmental sustainability. An analysis of waste material is needed in construction projects to identify the type of waste material, the amount of loss caused, and the causal factors so that the emergence of waste material can be minimized by carrying out proper handling. Analysis of handling construction waste material is carried out in the Pegadaian Tower Development Project. In this study, the waste cost of materials with a large quantity of waste is calculated to determine the amount of purchasing losses due to waste material. After that, further analysis was carried out to determine the causal factors using the fishbone diagram method. Furthermore, efforts to handle it are arranged based on the concept of a waste material management hierarchy. Identification of the causal factors and efforts to handle waste material are carried out based on previous research then validated and developed through interviews with informants. From the results of the analysis, it is known that the type of material that produces a large quantity of waste is BJTS Reinforcement – 520B 32mm, BJTS Reinforcement 420B 25mm, BJTS Reinforcement – 420B 13mm, Standard Plastering 50 kg dry mix, homogenous tile 600 x 600, and ceramic tile. The waste cost generated from this material is Rp. 1,441,345,080.00 This waste material arises due to manpower factors, namely employee errors, management, namely management errors, method, namely storage method errors, design, namely complicated designs, and mother nature, namely bad weather. Efforts that can be taken to minimize and manage waste material are by applying the concept of a waste material management hierarchy consisting of reduce, namely efforts to prevent and reduce, reuse, namely efforts to reuse, stored, namely efforts to store, resell, namely efforts to sell to used goods collectors, return, namely efforts to return, recycle, namely efforts to recycle, and disposal, namely disposal.
