Abstract
Sarana pendidikan nonformal pondok pesantren di Indonesia merupakan sarana alternatif yang menarik dan mengalami peningkatan dari masa lampau hingga sekarang. Permasalahan kesesakan dalam hunian (crowded) sering terjadi pada pesantren menengah ke bawah sehingga memunculkan permasalahan lainnya seperti ruang personal dan privasi pengguna tidak terakomodasi dengan baik. Salah satu pondok pesantren yang mengalami permasalahan tersebut adalah pondok pesantren Darunnajah di Kabupaten Trenggalek yang berfokus pada santri laki laki. Dari permasalahan kesesakan hunian pada pesantren, penyelesaian rancangan dilakukan dengan metode contextualisme yang berfokus pada pendekatan arsitektur perilaku. Perilaku penghuni khususnya santri dalam beraktivitas dan belajar dalam hunian pesantren menjadi aspek penting dalam mengurangi masalah kesesakan dan menghadirkan rancangan arsitektur yang mempertimbangkan kenyamanan penghuni. Selain santri, elemen utama yang mendukung kenyamanan hunian pesantren antara lain pengelola, pengurus, pengajar, masyarakat sekitar, hingga wali santri. Force based framework sebagai alur berpikir yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan alur rancangan yang sesuai. Dengan adanya force interaction dan place, kriteria desain dirancang untuk menjawab permasalahan yang ada. Konsep second home dengan penghuni sebagai pertimbangan utama hadir sebagai jawaban dari permasalahan crowded pada hunian pesantren. Pemilihan penataan massa dengan penyusunan massa cluster sesuai dengan zoning dan fungsi massa yang menjadikan existing masjid sebagai guidline penyusunan massa. Site terdiri dari 2 fungsi sebagai fungsi utama yang berfokus pada kegiatan pembelajaran dan fungsi lainnya sebagai kegiatan peningkatan skill dan pemenuhan kebutuhan hunian segi penunjang. Dengan konsep second home tersebut, penataan program ruang pondok pesantren menghasilkan penataan yang mempertimbangkan interaksi pada ruang personal dan ruang bersama yang dihadirkan dalam santri corner dan collaborative space di rancangan sehingga permasalahan kesesakan dan ruang privasi terselesaikan dengan hadirnya kenyamanan dan privasi penghuni dengan mengikuti perkembangkan dan kebutuhan pendidikan manusia di masa yang akan datang.

Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia are attractive alternative educational facilities and have increased from the past to the present. The problem of crowding often occurs in middle to lower class boarding schools so that it raises other problems such as personal space and user privacy is not well accommodated. One of the boarding schools that experience these problems is Darunnajah boarding school in Trenggalek Regency which focuses on male students. The solution to the problem of overcrowding in the boarding school, the design solution is carried out using the contextualism method which focuses on the behavioral architecture approach. The behavior of the occupants, especially the students in doing activities and studying in the Islamic boarding schools residential, is an important aspect in reducing the problem of crowdedness and presenting an architectural design that considers the comfort of the occupants. In addition to students, the main elements that support the comfort of Islamic boarding schools residential include managers, administrators, teachers, the surrounding community, and student guardians. Force based framework as a line of thinking is used to produce an appropriate design flow. With force interaction and place, design criteria are designed to answer existing problems. The concept of a second home with residents as the main consideration comes as an answer to the problem of crowded boarding school residences. Selection of mass arrangement with cluster mass arrangement in accordance with zoning and mass function that makes the existing mosque as a guideline for mass arrangement. The site consists of 2 functions as the main function that focuses on learning activities and other functions as skill improvement activities and fulfillment of residential needs in terms of support. With the second home concept, the structuring of the boarding school space program produces an arrangement that considers the interaction of personal and shared spaces presented in the user corner and collaborative space in the design so that the problem of crowding and privacy space is resolved with the presence of comfort and privacy of residents by following the development and needs of human education in the future.
