Abstract

Di Indonesia kebutuhan surfaktan terus meningkat setiap tahunnya dan diperkirakan akan terus meningkat. Salah satu golongan surfaktan yang ada adalah surfaktan amfoter. Contoh dari surfaktan amfoter adalah cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB). Cocamidopropyl betaine dibuat pada skala yang sangat besar dan sejauh ini telah menggantikan kelas surfaktan amfoter lainnya dari waktu ke waktu. Pertumbuhan cocamidopropyl betaine telah terjadi selama beberapa dekade, dan kinerja dari CAPB dianggap sangat baik sebagai penguat busa, terutama dalam produk untuk personal care, homecare serta sebagai campuran pestisida. Meninjau kebutuhan surfaktan CAPB yang cukup tinggi di Indonesia maka melalui laporan ini, dirancang sebuah pabrik dengan kapasitas 750 ton/tahun dan terletak dikawasan industri Gresik, Jawa Timur. Pabrik ini dioperasikan dalam sistem batch dengan kapasitas 757,57 kg/batch dan dilakukan 3 batch/hari selama 330 hari. Berdasarkan analisa neraca massa didapatkan jumlah bahan baku fatty acid yang dibutuhkan dalam 1 batch adalah 135,606 kg/batch. Tahapan dalam pengolahan CAPB dibagi menjadi 2, yaitu tahapan reaksi amidasi dan tahapan reaksi karboksimetilasi. Tahapan amidasi merupakan tahapan untuk menghasilkan amidoamine dari reaksi antara fatty acid dan DMAPA. Tahapan ini dilakukan di reaktor batch bersuhu 90oC dengan konversi hingga 99%. Sedangkan tahapan karboksimetilasi merupakan tahapan yang menghasilkan cocamidopropyl betaine dengan mereaksikan amidoamine dan sodium monochloroacetate. Tahapan ini dilakukan di reaktor batch bersuhu 95oC. Produk akhir yang dihasilkan adalah cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) dengan konsentrasi 30%w/w. Dalam pendirian pabrik ini, dibutuhkan investasi awal sebesar Rp63.183.732.913 dengan Pay Out Time selama 3 tahun, WACC 8,8%, IRR 35%, dan berdiri selama 20 tahun.

In Indonesia, the need for surfactants continues to increase every year and is expected to continue to increase. One class of surfactants that exist are amphoteric surfactants. An example of an amphoteric surfactant is cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB). Cocamidopropyl betaine is manufactured on a very large scale and has so far replaced other classes of amphoteric surfactant. The growth of cocamidopropyl betaine has been going on for decades, and the performance of CAPB is considered excellent as a foam booster, especially in products for personal care, home care and as a pesticide admixture. In view of the relatively high demand for CAPB surfactant in Indonesia, through this report, the plant is designed with a capacity of 750 tons/year and this plant located in the Gresik industrial area, East Java. This plant is operated in a batch system with a capacity of 757.57 kg/batch with a total of 3 batches/day for 330 days. Based on the mass balance analysis, it was found that the amount of fatty acid raw material needed in 1 batch was 135,606 kg/batch. The stages in the processing of CAPB are divided into 2, the amidation reaction stage and the carboxymethylation reaction stage. The amidation stage is a step to produce amidoamine from the reaction between fatty acids and DMAPA. This stage is carried out in a batch reactor at 90oC with a conversion of up to 99%. While the carboxymethylation step is the step that produces cocamidopropyl betaine by reacting amidoamine and sodium monochloroacetate. This stage was carried out in a batch reactor at 95oC. The final product produced is cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) with a concentration of 30%w/w. In achieving this plant, an initial investment of IDR 63,183,732,913 is required with a Pay Out Time of 3 years, WACC 8.8%, IRR 35%, and has been established for 20 years.
