Abstract
Keadaan pandemi COVID-19 telah menyebabkan tingkat kecemasan, ketakutan dan kepanikan yang belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya, cenderung menghindari kontak antar manusia, sehingga menimbulkan ketakutan untuk melakukan perjalanan sehingga tumbuh perilaku perjalanan pascatrauma (post-trauma travel behavior) pada masyarakat. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh: ancaman kesehatan, berkurangnya kontrol situasional, krisis ekonomi, stres akibat rasa terkunci/terkurung, dan korosi ikatan sosial akibat adanya polarisasi interpretasi masyarakat terhadap situasi pandemi COVID-19. Mulai saat itu, staycation berkembang pesat dan menjadi bagian dari perilaku baru pascapandemi. Masyarakat tertarik staycation di hotel, karena inti dari sebuah perjalanan liburan adalah menginap di hotel yang mensimulasikan perjalanan secara abstrak dan membantu mencapai jarak psikologis jauh dari rumah. Hal tersebut tentunya dapat menjadi peluang bisnis bagi hotel. Seiring berjalannya waktu – bahkan saat puncak masa pandemi, pertumbuhan bisnis perhotelan di Bondowoso pun meningkat sehingga muncul kompetitor-kompetitor baru yang tak kalah saing dengan subjek desain pada perancangan ini, yaitu Palm Hotel. Keunggulan wisata alam Bondowoso – terutama Kawah Ijen kerap kali menjadi alasan wisatawan datang. Dengan keadaan tersebut, memanfaatkan keunggulan Palm Hotel dan peluang di masa pascapandemi berpeluang tinggi untuk peningkatan okupasi kunjungan. Solusinya terangkum dalam sebuah konsep, yaitu ’staycation’. Re-desain interior Palm Hotel menggunakan metode ’Design Thinking’ dengan tahapan understanding, empathyze, define, ideate, prototyping, dan testing. Konsep staycation pada Palm Hotel mengembangkan identitas Palm Hotel, dengan memberi pengalaman baru yang belum ada pada hotel di Bondowoso pada umumnya, dan meningkatkan kenyamanan. Ruangan-ruangan terpilih yang paling mencerminkan konsep tersebut adalah kamar tamu hotel, cafe and bar, dan private lounge. Testing desain Palm Hotel mengukur kepuasan pengguna yang mendapatkan hasil ‘sangat memuaskan’.

The state of the COVID-19 pandemic caused unprecedented levels of anxiety, fear and panic, tended to avoid human-to-human contact leads into fearfulness to travel, so that post-traumatic travel behavior grows in society. This caused by: health threats, reduced situational control, economic crisis, stress due to feelings of being locked up/cooped up, and corrosion of social ties due to polarization of people's interpretation about COVID-19 pandemic situation. Therefore, ‘staycation’ developed rapidly became a part of post-pandemic behavior. People are interested to ‘hotel staycation’, because the essence of a trip is staying at a hotel that simulates a trip abstractly and helps achieving a psychological distance away from home. This can be a business opportunity for hotels. Over the time – even at the peak of the pandemic, the growth of hotel business in Bondowoso has increased, so that new competitors have emerged, as their quality are good enough to equal Palm Hotel. Bondowoso's natural tourism advantages - especially Ijen Crater become a reason why many tourists come. In that state, taking advantage of the Palm Hotel's advantages and opportunities in the post-pandemic era has a high chance to increase visiting occupancy number. The solution is wrapped in a concept called ‘staycation’. Palm Hotel's interior re-design used 'Design Thinking' method consists of 6 major stages: understanding, empathizing, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing. The staycation concept at the Palm Hotel develops the identity of the Palm Hotel, by providing a new experience doesn't exist in general hotels in Bondowoso, and increasing convenience. The selected rooms reflect the most of this concept are: hotel guest rooms, cafe and bar, and private lounge. User testing of the Palm Hotel design measures user satisfaction with 'very satisfying' results.
