Abstract

The rapid increase in water demand has led to an increase in the efficiency of the water distribution network, which has also increased both in terms of meeting water needs and in terms of the required costs. Several cases of lack of fulfillment of water needs are often found in the West Surabaya area. Grand Pakuwon Township is a development project planned to become a Superblock in West Surabaya, of course the demand for water will be very high in that area. Therefore, the author raises the topic of analyzing the water distribution network in Grand Pakuwon Township to see whether the distribution network meets the predetermined minimum pressure standards or not and whether there is still room for optimizing the distribution network in terms of costs with diameter as the decision variable. In this study, the authors used the Generalized Reduced Gradient (GRG) method based on head loss where this method is quite effective in solving nonlinear optimization problems such as water distribution networks. The results obtained using this method are savings of 22.95% of the total initial investment cost and error head loss between simulations using EPANET 2.2 and calculations by using Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) is 0.21025.
