Abstract

The phenomenon of stigmatizing people with mental illness is still deeply rooted in Indonesian society. There are still many stereotypes in society that assume that someone with a disturbed mental health condition tends to be unable to live his life properly, often gets into trouble and is associated with infectious diseases. As a result, these sufferers do not get further treatment and refuse to be treated. One solution to this problem is through architectural aspects. This aspect is present by providing a space that supports the development of the health of the sufferers. In the design, an empathetic approach is applied to determine architectural criteria that have a positive impact on sufferers. From this approach, it can be determined that the medical center design criteria focus on aspects of lighting, ventilation, vegetation, and zoning arrangements to provide comfort and privacy, especially for people with schizophrenia, depression, and bipolar. Therefore, to support the application of the design, the Force Based Framework method is applied to the site so that the application of the design concept is in accordance with environmental conditions so that separate mass zone areas are determined based on the urgency of user needs, design standards and functions, and determination of room layouts, namely the main building area, supporting building area, and inpatient area.
