Abstract

Indonesia is a significant export country in Southeast Asia. One of them is the export of processed wood products, namely in the form of wooden furniture. In wood furniture export activities, Vietnam is one of Indonesia's rivals where Vietnam is in third position in the world while Indonesia is in sixth position. This is due to Indonesia's high logistics costs, especially distribution costs which make exporters choose the FOB (Free on Board) system. Therefore, this study wants to minimize distribution costs by creating a new distribution network model and adding a Distribution Center (DC). To produce an optimal solution, this study uses optimization with the Set Covering Problem (SCP) model with two scenarios. In scenario 1, distribution costs of Rp. 13,536,064.35 million per year were obtained and unit costs of Rp. 33.92 million per ton and Rp. 39.57 million per TEUS. Meanwhile, in scenario 2, distribution costs of Rp. 11,156,635.01 million per year and unit costs of Rp. 27.95 million per ton and unit costs of Rp. 32.63 million per TEUS. The addition of Distribution Centers affects distribution costs, especially for suppliers and consumers who have long distances and greater demand. Then the cheaper the distribution cost compared to current conditions.
