Abstract

Coal is a source of energy for power generation and functions as fuel (Sukandarrumidi, 1995). Coal stock taking is a survey activity carried out in the coal yard area to calculate the stockpile volume and coal tonnage after multiplying by the density value. Technological developments in surveying and mapping or modeling are currently very rapid. One of the tools at this time is the Terrestrial Laser Scanner (Simbolon, 2017). The Terrestrial Laser Scanner is capable of recording horizontal angles, vertical angles, and distances between objects and tools which are then transformed into 3-dimensional Cartesian coordinates. This research will be made visualization of 3-dimensional modeling of coal stock taking from the measurement results of terrestrial laser scanners with various representations using the triangular mesh method. The object of this research is coal stock taking. The resulting output is a 3-dimensional modeling of coal objects from various modes, such as wireframe mode, shaded mode, and textured mode. The results of volume using Prismoidal method is 257911.843 m3. In the Grid method, the resulting coal volume is 264026.111 m3. In the Contour method, the volume of coal is 239984.425 m3. In the TIN method, the volume of coal is 262171.925 m3. From the percentage change in volume obtained, the method that is included in the tolerance of the prismoidal method is the TIN and grid method with a volume difference of -2%. When compared to the three visualization models, there is no significant difference between the shaded mode and the textured mode, but the texture mode shows the results that are closest to the conditions in the field
