Abstract

UPT bahasa Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) merupakan sebuah unit pelaksana kegiatan dalam bidang pembelajaran bahasa dan budaya di ITS yang melayani
mahasiswa ITS, mahasiswa asing, dosen dan tenaga didik ITS, serta masyarakat umum. UPT bahasa ITS melayani kegiatan kursus bahasa asing, kursus persiapan sertifikasi bahasa asing, kursus bahasa Indonesia bagi orang asing, tes bahasa asing, penerjemah dan proofreading, workshop, serta sarana belajar mandiri.ITS memiliki 3 poin utama dalam identitasnya yaitu sains, teknologi, dan seni. Poin sains dan teknologi memberikan kesan yang terstruktur, rapih, dan baru mengikuti zaman. Sedangkan pada seni memberikan kesan yang kreatif dan bebas. Konsep modern kontekstual menekankan kepada fungsi dan desain yang simple serta menunjukan ciri khas setempat, dalam hal ini ciri khas ITS. Untuk menerapkan konsep modern, desain dibuat dengan warna dominan putih, penerapan garis horizontal dan vertikal, bentuk asimetris, serta ornamen tambahan yang digunakan memiliki sebuah fungsi. Lalu, konsep kontekstual diterapkan melalui bentuk logo, transformasi bentuk logo, serta warna brand dari ITS sebagai ornamen-ornamen tambahan pada interior UPT Bahasa ITS.

Language center of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) is a unit implementing activities in the field of language and culture learning at ITS that serves ITS students, foreign students, ITS lecturers, and the general public. ITS language center provides foreign language courses, foreign language certification preparation courses, Indonesian language courses for foreigners, foreign language tests, translators and proofreading, workshops, and independent study facilities.ITS has 3 main points in its identity, namely science, technology and art. Points of science and technology give the impression that it is structured, neat, and up to date. Meanwhile, art gives the impression of being creative and free. The modern contextual concept emphasizes function and simple design while showing local characteristics, in this case focused on ITS’ characteristics. To apply a modern concept, the design is made with the dominant white color, the application of horizontal and vertical lines, asymmetrical shapes, and the additional ornaments used in the design have its own function. Then, contextual concepts are applied through logo shapes, shape transformations of the logo, and brand colors from ITS as additional ornaments in the interior of the ITS Language Unit.
