Abstract

In the current era of globalization, the demand for fossil fuels is increasing, but their availability is dwindling. This has led the government to promote the conversion of motor vehicles to electric ones, and there's also the possibility of doing the same for fishing fleets, including fishing vessels. Additionally, there is an issue of overfishing occurring in the Madura Strait, leading to conflicts among fishermen due to the limited fish resources, which serve as the primary livelihood for the community. To address these problems, there is a need for environmentally friendly fishing vessel planning that can also help resolve the conflicts among the fishermen in the Madura Strait. The planning involves the use of pure electric gillnet fishing vessels by the fishermen. These gillnet vessels are not only eco-friendly, as they do not emit carbon dioxide gases, but they are also designed to operate within a limited range, specifically less than or equal to 4 miles, which helps control overfishing activities. The research utilizes a traditional fishing vessel with a Length Overall (LOA) of 10.602 meters, adjusted to a speed of 6.125 knots. This electric gillnet vessel operates under two different operational patterns. The first pattern covers a distance of 11.79 kilometers with 3 trips, and one of the trips involves recharging at a fishing platform (bagan). The second operational pattern covers a distance of 9.96 kilometers with 2 trips, and it does not require recharging at the fishing platform because it uses 4 solar panels with a capacity of 100 WP each to charge the battery. The chosen battery for both operational patterns of the gillnet vessel has a capacity of 80 AH with a voltage of 48 volts.
