Abstract

The transformation of traditional medical records into electronic medical records requires special attention, especially in the field of data security. This study proposes a model for securing patient medical records that combines hybrid encryption methods, selective sharing and user control, and blockchain technology with the main objective being to maintain the security, privacy, integrity, and availability of patient medical records in the transformation to electronic medical records. In developing this system, the waterfall methodology is used as a system development approach. In the testing phase the authors tested the implemented functions, performance, and security testing. The results of this study are that the proposed system can run as expected based on 53 test cases which have a test coverage of 100% in the implementation testing phase. The results of the analysis show that the developed protocol is very computationally efficient through performance testing. System testing also shows that the system has an effective security layer in protecting electronic medical records
