Abstract
Sebanyak 583 spesies dinyatakan terancam punah.

Indonesia, known for its rich flora and fauna, faces significant biodiversity decline. Among the 583 endangered species in the country, 191 of them are mammals. The Javan leopard (Panthera pardus melas) is one of the endangered species protected under the Regulation of the Environment and Forestry Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia. It is classified as Endangered (EN) according to The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and falls under the CITES Appendix I category. The conservation of the Javan leopard is crucial due to its role as a keystone species. The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (BTSNP) serves as a conservation area for the Javan leopard. To date, information about the Javan leopard population in the BTSNP area has only been obtained based on routine monitoring and there has been no further research on the estimation of the Javan leopard population in BTSNP. Therefore, this research was conducted to obtain further information regarding the estimated population size and density of the Javan leopard in the BTSNP, specifically in the RPTN Jabung and RPTN Candipuro. The study was conducted over a three-month period from September to December 2022. The research involved various stages, including tool and material preparation, camera trap installation and retrieval, and data processing from camera trap and secondary sources. The data from camera traps in 2022 and previous years' monitoring results of BTSNP were processed using the CMRR method. The findings revealed an estimated population size of 4 individuals with a density of 0.16 individuals/km² in the RPTN Jabung. In the RPTN Candipuro, a population size of at least 4 individuals and a density of 0.28 individuals/km² were observed. This research contributes valuable insights into the population dynamics of the Javan leopard in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, aiding future conservation efforts for this endangered species. The results of this study provide new information regarding the size and density of the leopard population in TNBTS, especially in the two study areas.
