Abstract

Museum Dr. Soetomo merupakan salah satu museum yang menyimpan banyak sejarah Kota Surabaya. Museum tersebut menyajikan kisah tentang perjuangan Pahlawan Nasional Dr. Soetomo, selama berprofesi sebagai seorang dokter kulit dan kelamin serta pendiri organisasi Boedi Oetomo. Museum Dr. Soetomo terletak di dalam Gedung Nasional Indonesia (GNI), Bubutan, Surabaya dan ditetapkan sebagai bangunan cagar budaya. Melihat kondisi eksisting Museum Dr. Soetomo masih memerlukan beberapa pembenahan, salah satunya belum secara optimal terbangunnya suasana museum yang dapat menyajikan informasi secara menarik, sesuai dengan perkembangan teknologi ruang pamer saat ini. Redesain interior Museum Dr. Soetomo menggunakan metode Interior Design Thinking dimana metode tersebut berorientasi terhadap keinginan dan kebutuhan pengguna, agar objek ini dapat berfungsi secara optimal. Metode tersebut dimulai dari tahap observasi, menjaring keinginan pengguna dengan teknik wawancara, serta studi eksisting pada objek desain baik secara literatur maupun langsung. Konsep Historical Pop-Up diterapkan untuk mewujudkan upaya museum dalam memberikan pengalaman kepada pengunjung untuk menjawab permasalahan yang ada. Hasil perancangan yaitu berupa desain interior Museum Dr. Soetomo yang menghadirkan teknologi digital display dan digital game experience pada penyajian koleksi.

Museum Dr. Soetomo is one of the museums that holds a lot of history of the city of Surabaya. The museum presents thestory of the struggle of National Hero Dr. Soetomo, while working as a skin and genital doctor and the founder of Boedi Oetomo organization. Museum Dr. Soetomo is located inside Gedung Nasional Indonesia (GNI), Bubutan, Surabaya and is designated as a cultural heritage building. Seeing the existing condition of Museum Dr. Soetomo still needs a number of improvements one of which is not yet optimally building a museum atmosphere that can present information in an interesting way, in line with the current developments in exhibition space technology. Redesign the interior of Museum Dr. Soetomo uses the Interior Design Thingking method where the method is oriented towards the wishes and needs of the user, so that this object can function optimally. This method starts from the observation stage, captures the wishes of users with interview techniques, as well as existing studies on design objects both in literature and directly. The Historical Pop-up concept is applied to realize the museum’s efforts in providing experiences for visitor to answer existing problems. The results of the design are the interior design of the Museum Dr. Soetomo who presents digital display technology and digital game experience in the presentation of collection.
