Abstract

A survey by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) noted that internet penetration in Indonesia has reached 78,19 percent in 2023. One of the conveniences of the internet is access to books or research documents through digital library services. The digital library owned by ITS provides repository website services in which there are various student documents, dissertations, and research belonging to lecturers at ITS. One of the good or bad indicators of a website is the quality of the user experience. In this study, the evaluation was carried out by combining objective factors, namely Electroencephalography (EEG) and subjectivity, namely Retrospective Think Aloud (RTA) and the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire. The user experience is marked by an increase in the relative power value of the alpha and gamma signals, and a smaller relative power value of the delta, theta, and beta signals. The results obtained in the evaluation process will be used to make improvements to the design of the ITS Repository website. Based on research conducted, EEG results for delta and alpha tend to be lower than theta, beta, and gamma signals. In addition, based on the SUS score obtained, the condition of the existing usability score is included in category F or the worst that can be imagined. The results of the RTA interviews also show the many difficulties experienced by respondents when carrying out two tasks on the existing website. Therefore, design improvements were made based on the data obtained from existing tests and the EEG values, namely delta, theta, alpha, and beta, tended to decrease while gamma increased significantly. In addition, based on the SUS score obtained, the repair condition usability score rises to category A or excellent. The results of the RTA also show the reduced difficulties experienced by respondents when carrying out tasks on the website in improved conditions. Therefore it can be concluded that the conditions for improving the ITS Repository website have a better user experience than the existing conditions. Based on the hypothesis testing conducted, the design significantly influences the EEG values (delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma) and the SUS score.
