Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan pembelajaran teaching factory di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan melalui metode Design Thinking. Pada penelitian ini akan difokuskan pada permasalahan pengembangan mutu produk, waktu pengerjaan dan penggunaan bahan. Dalam konteks pendidikan, metode ini dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kualitas implementasi teaching factory. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan studi kasus di konsentrasi keahlian Desain Komunikasi Visual (DKV) SMK Katolik St. Louis Surabaya melalui metode Design Thinking. Metode Design Thinking dikenal sebagai pendekatan inovatif dalam merancang solusi berdasarkan kebutuhan pengguna. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuisioner dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode Design Thinking pada teaching factory memiliki manfaat yang signifikan. Metode ini memungkinkan siswa untuk belajar melalui pengalaman langsung di lingkungan kerja seperti halnya pada industri: dengan mutu dan sistem kerja yang efisien. Sehingga kesimpulan yang diperoleh pada penelitian ini mutu produk, efisiensi waktu dan bahan produk berhasil ditingkatkan melalui proses pembelajarannya. Dengan mutu standar industri merepesentasikan kompetensi siswa dan relevansi pendidikan dengan dunia kerja. Rekomendasi penelitian ini meliputi penyusunan pedoman tata kelola teaching factory dengan menitikberatkan pada pengaturan capaian kompetensi konsentrasi keahlian DKV per tingkat untuk mendukung penerapan teaching factory dalam kurikulum sekolah

This study aims to analyze the implementation of teaching factory learning in Vocational High Schools through the Design Thinking method. The focus of this research will be on the issues of product quality development, work time, and material usage. In the context of education, this method can be used to improve the quality of teaching factory implementation. This research adopts a quantitative and qualitative approach with a case study in the Visual Communication Design (DKV) concentration at St. Louis Catholic Vocational High School Surabaya through the Design Thinking method. Design Thinking is known as an innovative approach to designing solutions based on user needs. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Design Thinking method in teaching factory has significant benefits. This method allows students to learn through direct experience in a work environment similar to the industry, with efficient quality and work systems. As a result, the quality of products, time efficiency, and product materials have been successfully improved through the learning process. Meeting industry standards represents students' competence and the relevance of education to the working world. The research recommendations include the development of teaching factory governance guidelines, with a focus on setting competence achievement in the DKV concentration at each level to support the implementation of teaching factory in the school curriculum
