Abstract

Most of African nations rely on agriculture and vegetation as their primary sources of sustenance, and Oodweyne, a village in Somaliland, is no different. Agriculture and vegetation are thought to be the district's top priorities. Both of those things are greatly influenced by water, and there is now not enough water available to support their growth. The village has not had any rain for the last 2 years. The village is experiencing significant strain due to the drought, and a new, long-lasting water supply is desperately needed. For now, the focus is to have water for irrigating crops (agriculture). So, the project came up with the idea of irrigating agricultural land with water from the condensation plant (water harvesting). The second idea is to collect the rainwater in the village that hopefully will come unexpectedly in the future using the drainage system, then reserve it for water storage located at the end of the drainage system. Therefore, this project will focus on those three projects, which are the irrigation system, drainage system, and water storage. For the irrigation system, this project has 55 hectares available for crops. It is located in the southwest area of the village. sub-surface drip irrigation (SDI) has been chosen to be the method for this project. It is the most effective and precise irrigation method, that could save water up to 60% more than the conventional method. The decision was made to make a drainage channel and place it in the middle of the road on every road in the village. It is assumed that the total precipitation in a month is around 150 mm. For the whole drainage system part, this project will have 132 channels all around the village. The water storage will be located in the southeast area of the village, defined by the topography of the village. The final volume of storage is 28500 m3, and it fulfils the amount of water needed for the irrigation system for a month.
