Abstract

Machinery failure has been the leading cause of accidents in the maritime industry especially in the ship. A proper monitoring system for some characteristics of diesel engines such as fuel consumption and cooling water flow rate is necessary to reduce the risk of engine failure. The technology of Digital Twin is necessary because it can help to monitor the engine remotely and digitalize. We can use the sensor to read the properties of the engine and transmit all the data virtually so that we can monitor it remotely and continuously in real-time conditions. For this research, the sensor and microcontroller will be used for the development of the Digital Twin Technology for the monitoring system. We will use the ultrasonic level sensor to measure the fuel consumption by monitoring the remaining fuel available in the tank for a certain time. For the cooling water flow rate, we will use the flow sensor at the inlet flow of cooling water to the engine. These two sensors both will be connected with the Mappi32 board microcontroller and all of the reading data by the sensor will be transmitted to the gateway which will be displayed on the website and also stored in the database. So that we can monitor the engine remotely through the website.
