Abstract

Pencegahan kegagalan sistem jaringan pipa, akibat korosi internal, yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan penambahan inhibitor. Inhibitor berbahan organik (bioinhibitor) menjadi perhatian untuk lebih dikembangkan karena bersifat ramah lingkungan. Senyawa organik yang teradsorpsi pada permukaan logam dan membentuk lapisan yang menghalangi logam dan lingkungan akan menurunkan laju korosi. Bioinhibitor yang digunakan adalah ekstrak kayu Bajakah Tampala (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pengaruh ekstrak kayu Bajakah Tampala yang ditambahkan dalam media korosi. Pada penelitian ini material uji yang digunakan adalah baja karbon API 5L Grade B dalam media larutan 3.5% NaCl dengan variasi konsentrasi sebesar 0, 250, 500, dan 750 ppm. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan adalah metode maserasi dengan pelarut alkohol 96% yang kemudian dipekatkan dengan rotary evaporator. Pengukuran laju korosi dilakukan dengan metode pengujian immersion test dan pengujian potentiodynamic polarization. Diperoleh hasil bahwa dengan penambahan ekstrak kayu Bajakah Tampala dalam media korosi larutan 3.5% NaCl dapat menunjukkan perilaku sebagai bioinhibitor. Laju korosi yang terjadi pada baja karbon API 5L Grade B mengalami penurunan seiring bertambahnya konsentrasi ekstrak kayu Bajakah Tampala. Efisiensi inhibitor tertinggi diperoleh pada penambahan 750 ppm konsentrasi ekstrak kayu Bajakah Tampala

Prevention of pipeline system failure, due to internal corrosion, can be done by adding inhibitors. Organic-based inhibitors (green-inhibitors) are of interest for further development because they are environmentally friendly. Organic compounds adsorbed on the metal surface and form a layer that blocks the metal and the environment will reduce the corrosion rate. The green-inhibitor used is Bajakah Tampala wood extract (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk). The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of Bajakah Tampala wood extract added in corrosion media. In this study, the test material used was API 5L Grade B carbon steel in 3.5% NaCl solution media with concentration variations of 0, 250, 500, and 750 ppm. The extraction method used is the maceration method with 96% alcohol solvent which is then concentrated with a rotary evaporator. Corrosion rate measurement was carried out by immersion test and potentiodynamic polarization test. It was found that the addition of Bajakah Tampala extract in the corrosion medium of 3.5% NaCl solution can show behavior as a green-inhibitor. The corrosion rate of API 5L Grade B carbon steel decreased as the concentration of Bajakah Tampala extract increased. The highest inhibition efficiency was obtained with the addition of 750 ppm concentration of Bajakah Tampala extract.
