Abstract

The problem of waste generation in big cities, such as North Jakarta, is increasingly worrying due to the lack of public awareness of the waste problem, causing the volume of waste generation to increase every time. In addition, today's waste treatment facilities only act as temporary waste storage containers which are also synonymous with visual impacts and odors that reduce the comfort of the surrounding environment. Thus, the design aims to present the concept of a waste processing facility that can provide a comfortable and enjoyable educational experience for the community while reducing the potential impact arising from the waste treatment process on the surrounding environment. The design project uses a theoretical approach of honesty and deception, and sustainable design based on a concept-based framework, and therefore emerge the big idea of the design, called "Trash Paradise", which translates to a beautiful, comfortable, and fun recreation-based waste processing educational facility. Formally, the architecture has a mass composition and building shape designed in such a way with the arrangement of spaces based on function zoning and user circulation to create dynamic building expressions while ensuring comfort and smooth operation of waste processing. Meanwhile, technically, the Trash Paradise architectural concept is strengthened by the application of waste materials, such as plastic, aluminium cans, or recycled paper, to architectural elements with specific configurations that can provide an interactive experience to improve the quality of waste education for users
