Abstract

The industry is currently experiencing a very significant increase in competition between companies, for example, product quality is the main concern of consumers when making a purchase. One of them is PT. Z which is a company engaged in the printing sector in producing cigarette packaging which is located in Lamongan, East Java, resulting in PT. Z continues to make efforts to control the quality of its products. Efforts to improve quality and productivity are the main goals of quality control. One of the quality control methods used is a control chart. Control chart is one of the tools used to analyze the output of a process. Control chart are generally divided into variable control charts and attribute control charts. Variable control chart is a control chart that is used for data that can be measured, while attribute control chart can be used based on the nature of the product that has defects or not. Based on the phenomena that often occur related to production failure due to defects in a product, this research uses an attribute control chart that compares the performance of the np control chart and c control chart in controlling the quality of cigarette label products and which control chart will be selected which is more sensitive to cigarette label products at PT. Z. From the results of the analysis and discussion that has been carried out, it shows that the defective data on cigarette label products has not been controlled statistically. The performance of the np control chart gives the same results as the c control chart based on the amount of data that is out of control. However, this greatly deviates from the expected results, therefore another indicator can be used as a comparison, namely the ARL value generated on each control chart. Then np control chart tends to have a lower ARL value than the c control chart so that if it is related to theory, the best control chart chosen is the control chart that has a smaller ARL value. Therefore, more precise and accurate control chart in statistically controlling the quality of cigarette packaging products is np control chart.
