Abstract

The watergate system in the river is a system that is quite crucial for controlling water that flows from upstream to downstream of the river. The system of opening and closing floodgates in a river is generally known as a dam. This dam system is not a new thing, you could say that it is quite common in rivers or a fairly large body of water. Dams are needed to control the water system both upstream and downstream. In the upstream, namely the higher ground, the water that is stored in a dam can be used for the needs of the surrounding community for irrigating fields and household needs. On the downstream, or lower plains, the existence of a dam will provide a more stable supply of water. Without a dam, from the upstream position it will be difficult to get a lot of water because the water will go straight downstream. The downstream position will receive excess water supply from the upstream. Excess water supply is very vulnerable to flooding. Sudden rapid discharge of water will cause flooding in lower plains. The use of IoT technology in a dam provides advantages for automation in terms of controlling and operating dams, as well as facilitating monitoring of data.
In this final project, a system prototype will be designed to apply the opening and closing of the water gate along with a water pump to pump excess water downstream. The system will run automatically according to the water level in each water channel. To monitor running device, it can be accessed via ThingSpeak and WebSerial. The implementation of the prototype design can be ascertained to function normally after undergoing a series of trials.
