Abstract

Head loss merupakan aliran fluida air di sepanjang sistem perpipaan yang terkena kerugian selama proses pengaliran air. Ada beberapa faktor penyebab head loss yaitu gaya gesek aliran terhadap dinding pipa, perubahan arah aliran, dan perubahan momentum aliran. Pada penelitian ini digunakan instalasi perpipaan seperti pada stasiun pompa yang terdiri dari: pipe header dan pipe branch. Variasi yang diberikan pada penelitian ini adalah variasi sudut dan diameter percabangan serta variasi operasi. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh ukuran diameter percabangan pipa dan pengaruh pola operasi terhadap penurunan tekanan, tekanan total dan kecepatan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode simulasi numerik. Pembuatan domain simulasi tiga dimensi dan meshing dilakukan dengan perangkat lunak ANSYS GAMBIT 2.4 dan simulasi numerik diproses dengan ANSYS FLUENT 19.2. Simulasi numerik dilakukan dengan pendekatan aliran steady dan turbulen viscous yang digunakan adalah k-epsilon standar. Variasi ukuran percabangan 0,4 m dan dan 0,5 m diikuti dengan variasi sudut pada percabangan yaitu 900 dan 450. Variasi simulasi numerik dilakukan dengan pengoperasian tiga dan empat pompa, dengan total debit aliran yang sama pada sisi outlet. Pada operasi empat pompa kecepatan pada inlet diatur sebesar 3,6 m/s dan pada tiga pompa diatur sebesar 4,61 m/s. Hasil dari penilitian ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya vortex yang bertindak sebagai blockage effect yang terjadi pada setiap model sambungan pipa dengan sudut percabangan 900 lebih besar daripada model sambungan pipa dengan sudut percabangan 450. Sehingga nilai energy losses model percabangan yang memiliki sudut percabangan 900 lebih besar dibanding model dengan sudut percabangan 450. Sedangkan hasil penilitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pola pemompaan empat pompa beroperasi memiliki energy losses yang lebih kecil daripada pola pemompaan tiga pompa beroperasi.

Head loss is the flow of water fluid along the piping system which is subject to losses during the water flow process. There are several factors that cause head loss, namely the frictional force of the flow against the pipe wall, changes in the direction of flow, and changes in the momentum of the flow. In this study, a piping installation was used, such as at a pumping station, consisting of: pipe header and pipe branch. The variations given in this study are variations in the angle and diameter of the branches and variations in operations. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of pipe branching diameter and the effect of operating patterns on pressure drop, total pressure and speed. This research was conducted using a numerical simulation method. Three-dimensional simulation domains and meshing were created using ANSYS GAMBIT 2.4 software and numerical simulations were processed using ANSYS FLUENT 19.2. Numerical simulations were carried out using a viscous steady and turbulent flow approach using standard k-epsilon. Variations in the size of the branches of 0.4 m and 0.5 m are followed by variations in the angles at the branches, namely 900 and 450. Variations in numerical simulations are carried out with the operation of three and four pumps, with the same total discharge flow on the outlet side. In the operation of the four pumps the speed at the inlet is set at 3.6 m/s and for the three pumps it is set at 4.61 m/s. The results of this study indicate that there is a vortex that acts as a blockage effect that occurs in each pipe connection model with a branching angle of 900 is greater than the pipe connection model with a branching angle of 450. So that the energy losses value of the branching model which has a branching angle of 900 is greater than the model with a branching angle of 450. While the results of this research indicate that the pumping pattern of four operating pumps has smaller energy losses than the pumping pattern of three operating pumps.
