Abstract

Penelitian ini mengamati komunitas biofouler di Selat Madura pada plat baja kapal dengan dan tanpa perlakuan cat antifouling komersial (Jotun AF-Max Guard). Dilakukan perendaman plat baja selama satu dan dua bulan di kedalaman 3 meter dengan mengikat papan frame dengan panel uji pada pilar-54 jembatan Suramadu, dengan penggunaan plat baja tanpa perlakuan cat antifouling sebagai kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya spesies biofouler yang ditemukan pada plat baja dengan coating antifouling, antara lain A. reticulatus, A. variegatus, Hydroides sp., Photis sp., dan Tubularia sp. Sedangkan pada plat baja tanpa coating antifouling ditemukan spesies A. amphitrite, A. reticulatus, A. variegatus, S. amaryllis, Hydroides sp., Photis sp., Chicoreus sp., Tubularia sp., Bugula sp., Ciona sp., dan Didemnum sp. Balanomorpha (acorn barnacle) atau teritip teridentifikasi sebagai takson biofouler dominan baik pada plat baja dengan maupun tanpa cat antifouling, dan diduga menjadi organisme target dari cat antifouling komersial yang digunakan. Keanekaragaman spesies ditemukan lebih tinggi pada plat baja tanpa perlakuan cat antifouling. Luas penutupan biofouler pada plat baja dengan cat antifouling menunjukkan penurunan selama 1 dan 2 bulan penelitian, sementara pada plat baja tanpa cat antifouling, luas penutupan meningkat selama 1 dan 2 bulan penelitian. Biomassa biofouler pada kedua jenis plat menunjukkan penurunan selama 1 dan 2 bulan penelitian, dengan penurunan lebih signifikan pada plat baja tanpa antifouling. Penurunan biomassa pada plat baja dengan cat antifouling diduga disebabkan oleh agen biosida dalam cat yang menghambat pertumbuhan organisme biofouler, sementara penurunan biomassa pada plat baja tanpa cat antifouling diduga disebabkan oleh korosi yang diinduksi oleh teritip.

This study observed the biofouler community in the Madura Strait on ship steel plates with and without commercial antifouler paint treatment (Jotun AF-Max Guard). The steel plates were immersed for one and two months at a depth of 3 meters, attached to test panels on the piers of the Suramadu Bridge, with untreated steel plates used as a control. The research results revealed the presence of biofouler species on steel plates with antifouler coating, including A. reticulatus, A. variegatus, Hydroides sp., Photis sp., and Tubularia sp. On the other hand, the steel plates without antifouler coating were found to have species like A. amphitrite, A. reticulatus, A. variegatus, S. amaryllis, Hydroides sp., Photis sp., Chicoreus sp., Tubularia sp., Bugula sp., Ciona sp., and Didemnum sp. Balanomorpha (acorn barnacle) was identified as the dominant biofouler taxon on both steel plates with and without antifouler paint, and it was presumed to be the target organism for the commercial antifouler paint used. Species diversity was found to be higher on steel plates without antifouler treatment. The biofouler coverage on steel plates with antifouler showed a decrease during both 1 and 2 months of the study, while on steel plates without antifouler, the coverage increased during the same period. The biofouler biomass on both types of plates showed a decrease during the study, with a more significant decline on steel plates without antifouler. The decrease in biomass on plates with antifouler is believed to be due to the biocidal agents in the paint inhibiting the growth of biofouler organisms, while the decline on plates without antifouler is attributed to corrosion induced by barnacles.
