Abstract

Formula student of Automotive Engineer (FSAE) adalah kompetisi tahunan yang diadakan Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) Internasional, kompetisi ini menuntut mahasiswa untuk dapat membuat prototype mobil formula yang nantinya akan dilombakan dengan tim dari perguruan tinggi lain dari seluruh dunia. Kompetisi ini memiliki dua event yang dilombakan yakni static event dan dynamic event. Pada dynamic event, performa mobil sangat mempengaruhi hasil yang dicapai. Untuk meningkatkan performa tersebut, maka dibutuhkan penambahan komponen yang mempengaruhi aerodynamic pada mobil. Salah satunya dengan penambahan aerodynamic device seperti front wing dan rear wing agar menghasilkan down force yang akan meningkatkan performa pada mobil. Pada proyek akhir ini metode yang digunakan adalah simulasi numerik. Tahapan penelitian ini terdiri dari pembuatan model geometri menggunakan program Solidworks, kemudian menginputkan model geometri pada Ansys Workbench, dilanjukan dengan pembuatan domain pemodelan pada Ansys Spaceclaim. Setelah pembuatan domain pemodelan, dilanjutkan proses meshing kemudian proses input boundary condition serta parameter-parameter lainnya pada program Ansys Fluent secara 3D.

Formula student of Automotive Engineer (FSAE) is an annual competition held by the International Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE); this competition requires students to be able to make prototype formula cars which will later be contested with teams from other universities from around the world. This competition has two contested events, namely static events and dynamic events. In dynamic events, the performance of the car greatly affects the results achieved. To improve this performance, it is necessary to add components that affect the aerodynamics of the car. One of them is by adding aerodynamic devices such as the front wing and rear wing to generate down force which will improve the performance of the car. In this final project the method used is numerical simulation. The stages of this research consist of creating a geometric model using the Solidworks 2017 program, then inputting the geometry model in Ansys Workbench, followed by creating a modeling domain in Ansys SpaceClaim. After creating the modeling domain, the meshing process is continued, then the process of inputing boundary conditions and other parameters in the 3D Ansys Fluent program.
