Abstract

Listrik sudah menjadi kebutuhan utama dalam masyarakat. Tetapi pembangkit listrik yang ada di Indonesia sebagian besar bergantung pada pembangkit dengan penggunaan energi fosil, yang dimana dapat memberikan dampak buruk bagi lingkungan. Di Indonesia sendiri memiliki potensi dalam pengembangan energi terbarukan, salah satunya pada sumber energi mikrohidro. Pemanfaat energi mikrohidro dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan Turbin Vortex sebagai Pembangkit Listrik skala kecil. Turbin Vortex dapat beroperasi pada head yang rendah yaitu 0,7 m - 3 m dan tidak membutuhkan kapasitas yang besar untuk menghasilkan energi listrik. Turbin Vortex dapat menghasilkan daya 5-100 KW. Pada penelitian proyek akhir ini menggunakan metode uji eksperimen yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis performa dari water vortex turbine. Pengujian ini dilakukan pada water vortex turbine menggunakan Basin conical concave dengan variasi diameter runner 350 mm dan 450 mm serta variasi sudut curve blade stagger 0O dan 15O. Hasil pada penelitian water vortex turbine didapatkan bahwa pada debit 500 lpm dengan runner Curve Blade Stagger 15o dan diameter 350 mm memiliki performa terbaik dengan nilai torsi 2,35 Nm, menghasilkan daya turbin 13,93 watt dan effisiensi turbin sebesar 24 % pada putaran turbin 56,5 rpm.

Electricity has become a major need in society. But indonesia's existing power plants largely depend on plants with the use of fossil energy, which can have a devastating impact on the environment. In Indonesia itself has potential in the development of renewable energy, one of which is microhydro energy sources. The utilization of microhydro energy can be done using Vortex Turbines as small-scale power plants. Vortex turbines can operate on a low head of 0.7m-3 m and do not require a large capacity to produce electrical energy. Vortex Turbine can produce 5-100 KW of power. In this final project research using experimental test method which aims to analyze the performance of water vortex turbine. This test was carried out on a water vortex turbine using a conical concave basin with a runner diameter variation of 350 mm and 450 mm and a blade stagger curve angle variation of 0O and 15O. The results of the water vortex turbine research found that at a discharge of 500 lpm with runner Curve Blade Stagger 15o and a diameter of 350 mm has the best performance with a torque value of 2.35 Nm, producing 13.93 watts of turbine power and turbine efficiency of 24% at 56.5 rpm turbine rotation.
