Abstract

Polimer matrix composite adalah material komposit dengan serat sintesis yang banyak digunakan dalam industri. Polimer matrix composite berpenguat serat alam disebut dengan biokomposit. Biokomposit dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif terbaik karena sifatnya ramah lingkungan, mudah teruarai secara hayati, tahan korosi, tidak beracun dan memiliki sifat mekanik yang tinggi. Serat alam seperti banana fiber umumnya digunakan untuk memperkuat komposit karena karakteristik yang lebih baik, ringan dan tahan terhadap korosi. Biokomposit yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah polypropylene, maleic anhydride polypropylene (MAPP) dan banana fiber dengan komposisi 10% banana fiber, 5% MAPP dan 85% polypropylene. Semua material tersebut dicampur dan diekstrude sampai menjadi pelet. Pelet biokomposit dilakukan proses injeksi menggunakan mesin injeksi molding. Hasil dari cetakan berupa spesimen uji tarik dengan standar ASTM D 638-03 tipe V, dan uji impak dengan standar ASTM D 256-04. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendapatkan parameter proses injeksi yang optimal dengan metode optimasi Taguchi grey fuzzy dengan matriks ortogonal L27(34) dan replikasi sebanyak 2 kali. Parameter proses yang divariasi diantaranya barrel temperature (205oC, 210oC, dan 215oC), injection pressure (50bar, 55bar, dan 60bar), holding pressure (35bar, 40bar, 45bar), dan injection velocity (55mm/det, 65mm/det, dan 75mm/det). Dari penelitian ini didapat kombinasi parameter proses injeksi molding yang secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan respon kekuatan tarik dan impak parameter Barrel temperature diatur sebesar 205oC, Injection pressure diatur sebesar 50 bar, Holding pressure diatur sebesar 40 bar, dan Injection velocity diatur sebesar 75 mm/det. Parameter proses barrel temperature, Injection pressure, holding pressure dan injection velocity memiliki kontribusi dalam meningkatkan kekuatan tarik dan impak memiliki kontribusi menurunkan total variansi dari respon secara berturut-turut sebesar 8,58 %, 20,83 %, 21,63 %, dan 9,49 %.

Polymer matrix composite is a composite material with synthetic fibers that is widely used in industry. Polymer matrix composite reinforced with natural fibers is called biocomposite. Biocomposites can be used as the best alternative because they are environmentally friendly, biodegradable, corrosion resistant, non-toxic and have high mechanical properties. Natural fibers such as banana fiber are commonly used to reinforce composites due to their better characteristics, light weight and corrosion resistance. The biocomposites used in this study are polypropylene, maleic anhydride polypropylene (MAPP) and banana fiber with a composition of 10% banana fiber, 5% MAPP and 85% polypropylene. All materials were mixed and extruded until they became pellets. The biocomposite pellets were injected using an injection molding machine. The result of the molding is a tensile test specimen with ASTM D 638-03 type V standard, and impact test with ASTM D 256-04 standard. This study was conducted to obtain optimal injection process parameters using Taguchi grey fuzzy optimization method with orthogonal matrix L27(34) and replication of 2 times. The process parameters varied included barrel temperature (205oC, 210oC, and 215oC), injection pressure (50bar, 55bar, and 60bar), holding pressure (35bar, 40bar, 45bar), and injection velocity (55mm/det, 65mm/det, and 75mm/det). From this research, a combination of injection molding process parameters that can significantly improve the tensile and impact strength response is obtained. Barrel temperature parameter is set at 205oC, Injection pressure is set at 50 bar, Holding pressure is set at 40 bar, and Injection velocity is set at 75 mm/sec. The process parameters barrel temperature, Injection pressure, holding pressure and injection velocity have a contribution in increasing the tensile and impact strength has a contribution to reduce the total variance of the response respectively by 8.58%, 20.83%, 21.63%, and 9.49%.
