Abstract

This study aims to compare the performance between a standard piston crown and a piston crown with shallow depth. The performance evaluation includes various parameters such as power, torque, and fuel consumption efficiency. Experimental tests were conducted on engines using standard piston crowns and modified shallow-depth piston crowns. Data on power, torque, and fuel consumption efficiency were collected and analyzed to assess the performance differences between the two piston crown designs. The results of this study show that the shallow depth modified piston can decrease performance by 0.97%, while torque can decrease by 0.8%, and Specific Fuel Oil Consumption (SFOC) decreases by 7.2%. This means that engines using shallow-depth modified pistons produce improved performance compared to standard toroidal pistons. The results also provide insight into the advantages and disadvantages of standard piston crowns and shallow-depth piston crowns in terms of their impact on engine performance. This research contributes to the understanding of piston crown design and helps in the development and selection of optimal piston designs to improve engine performance.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan performa antara mahkota piston standar dan mahkota piston dengan kedalaman yang dangkal. Evaluasi performa meliputi berbagai parameter seperti tenaga, torsi, dan efisiensi konsumsi bahan bakar. Pengujian eksperimental dilakukan pada mesin yang menggunakan mahkota piston standar dan mahkota piston dengan kedalaman dangkal yang telah dimodifikasi. Data daya, torsi, dan efisiensi konsumsi bahan bakar dikumpulkan dan dianalisis untuk menilai perbedaan performa antara kedua desain piston crown tersebut. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa piston yang dimodifikasi dengan kedalaman dangkal dapat menurunkan performa sebesar 0,97%, sedangkan torsi dapat menurun sebesar 0,8%, dan Konsumsi Bahan Bakar Minyak Spesifik (SFOC) menurun sebesar 7,2%. Ini berarti mesin yang menggunakan piston modifikasi kedalaman dangkal menghasilkan performa yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan piston toroidal standar. Hasil penelitian ini juga memberikan wawasan tentang kelebihan dan kekurangan dari mahkota piston standar dan mahkota piston dengan kedalaman dangkal dalam hal dampaknya terhadap kinerja mesin. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pemahaman desain mahkota piston dan membantu dalam pengembangan dan pemilihan desain piston yang optimal untuk meningkatkan kinerja mesin.
