Abstract
Menurut Environmental Protection Agency sebagian besar orang menghabiskan sekitar 90% waktunya di dalam ruangan sehingga risiko kesehatan lebih besar kemungkinan terjadi akibat paparan polutan udara di dalam ruangan. Kualitas udara di dalam ruangan yang buruk berperan dalam menimbulkan dampak pada segi kesehatan manusia. Polusi udara di dalam ruangan dapat ditangani dengan teknik pemurnian kimia (chemical purification), ventilasi, isolasi, dan penghilangan polusi oleh tanaman (fitoremediasi). Pada penelitian ini menggunakan berbagai sumber literatur sebagai acuan yaitu artikel, jurnal ilmial, tugas akhir, dan literatur lain yang berhubungan dengan topik fitoremediasi indoor air pollution menggunakan tanaman hias. Metode studi literatur ini, menggunakan kombinasi kata kunci seperti fitoremediasi, tanaman hias, indoor air pollution, indoor air quality pada website pencarian jurnal. Polusi udara di dalam ruangan dapat ditangani dengan teknik pemurnian kimia (chemical purification), ventilasi, isolasi, dan penghilangan polusi oleh tanaman (fitoremediasi). Hasil kajian pustaka menunjukkan bahwa penghuni di dalam ruangan cenderung rentan terpapar Indoor Air Pollution dan terkena risiko kesehatan dengan memperhatikan beberapa faktor fisika, kimia, dan biologis. Terdapat beberapa faktor yang perlu dipertimbangkan saat mengevaluasi pengurangan Indoor Air Pollutant menggunakan tanaman hias yaitu fitur metabolisme dan morfologi tanaman dan kondisi lingkungan (suhu, kelembapan relatif, dan keberadaan cahaya). Berbagai jenis tanaman memiliki kemampuan efisiensi penyerapan polutan yang berbeda dan bervariasi, sehingga identifikasi dan kategorisasi tanaman yang sensitif dan toleran sangatlah penting karena selain dapat berfungsi sebagai indikator juga untuk mengidentifikasi tanaman yang efektif dalam menyerap polutan. Selain itu perlu dilakukan pemilihan spesies tanaman dalam ruangan berdasarkan karakteristik morfologi, anatomi, dan fisiologisnya. Selain itu dalam mengoptimalkan penghilangan konsentrasi polusi udara di dalam ruangan oleh tanaman hias dapat menggunakan mixed plants di satu lingkungan fitoremediasi yang sama dengan menggunakan tanaman CAM dan C4 yang mana nantinya tanaman akan bekerja secara optimal selama 24 jam dalam menghilangkan polutan di udara.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, most people spend around 90% of their time indoors, so health risks are more likely to occur due to exposure to indoor air pollutants (Indoor Air Pollutants). Poor indoor air quality plays a role in causing an impact on human health. Indoor air pollution can be treated with chemical purification techniques, ventilation, isolation, and removal of pollution by plants (phytoremediation). In this study, various literature sources were used as references, namely articles, scientific journals, final assignments, and other literature related to the topic of phytoremediation of indoor air pollution using decorative plants. This literature study method uses a combination of keywords such as phytoremediation, ornamental plants, indoor air pollution, indoor air quality on the journal search website. Indoor air pollution can be treated with chemical purification techniques, ventilation, isolation, and removal of pollution by plants (phytoremediation). The results of the literature review show that indoor occupants tend to be vulnerable to exposure to Indoor Air Pollution and exposed to health risks by taking into account several factors in physical, chemicals, and biology. There are several factors to consider when assessing the reduction of Indoor Air Pollutants using ornamental plants, such as plant metabolic and morphological features and environmental conditions (temperature, relative humidity, and presence of light). Various types of plants have different and varied pollutant absorption efficiency capabilities, so identification and categorization of plants that are sensitive and tolerant is very important, because they can serve as indicators as well as to identify plants that are effective in absorbing pollutants. In addition, it is necessary to select indoor plant species based on their morphological, anatomical and physiological characteristics. In addition to optimizing the removal of indoor air pollution concentrations by ornamental plants, you can use mixed plants in the same phytoremediation environment by using CAM and C4 plants, where later the plants will work optimally for 24 hours in removing pollutants in the air.
