Abstract

Micro Aerical Vehicle (MAV) is an unmanned aircraft which is often known as a drone. MAV is a flying machine using a remote control that is operated by an operator using a remote control. MAV uses include military, agricultural, observation, monitoring, urban vegetation mapping, etc. The fuselage is the main component of the MAV which is connected to other devices so that the MAV can fly properly. There are several methods for making fuselage, one of which is using the 3D Print stereolithography method. Zinc oxide is an inorganic compound that can accelerate the photocuring process and can also be used as a filler. In this study, the application of ZnO filler in the PMMA/ZnO composite to the MAV fuselage used the stereolithography method by varying the ZnO filler composition (0%, 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% by weight) and curing time (10, 15, 20, and 25 seconds). The results showed that the 1.5 wt% PMMA/ZnO composite with a curing time of 25s had the highest tensile strength with a value of 39.2 ± 1.5 MPa. Meanwhile, the highest hardness was found in 1.5 wt% PMMA/ZnO with a curing time of 20s which had a value of 80.0 ± 0.5 Shore D. Based on the results of FTIR scanning analysis, the addition of ZnO filler composition affected the polymerization process in PMMA/ZnO composites. The results of the SEM shown that there is good interfacial interaction between the amplifier and the matrix.
