Abstract
Analisis biomarka fraksi hidrokarbon alifatik dilakukan untuk mengetahui potensi Coal Bed Methane (CBM) sampel Batubara HL-01, Formasi Tanjung, Cekungan Barito, Kabupaten Kapuas melalui kajian karakteristik geokimia organik.

Biomarker analysis of hydrocarbon aliphatic fraction was conducted to study Coal Bed Methane (CBM) potential of HL-01 coal sample from Tanjung Formation, Barito Basin, Kapuas Regency through organic geochemistry characteristics research. Sample was extracted using Soxhlet extraction method, fractionated using thin-layer chromatography (TLC), then analyzed through gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS). Mass spectrum identification was carried out by comparing it to retention time pattern and mass spectrum data from past studies. Identification of fragmentogram m/z 57 showed that it has the distribution pattern of unimodal with the highest abundance at n-C27 which derived from terrestrial higher plants. Value of TAR, ACL, and AlkTerr ratio as well as identified sesquiterpenoid compound such as trans-cadinene, 8ꞵ(H)-homodrimane and hopanoids compound indicates that input of organic matter is dominated by terrestrial higher plants with some organic matters are derived from macrophytes and bacteria. CPI and OEP ratio as well as C31αβ22S/(22S+22R) and C32αβ22S/(22S+22R) ratio showed that HL-01 coal sample have reached equilibrium hence thermal maturity of the sample is at the stage of immature-early mature (transition from immature to mature). Ratio of Pr/Ph and Hunt’s diagram cross plot of Pr/C17 and Ph/C18 showed that the coal sample is deposited in an oxic environment and is a type III kerogen which tend to produce gas. Therefore, Tanjung Formation is potential to produce Coal Bed Methane (CBM).
