Abstract

Karakterisasi geokimia organik pada batubara IL-07, Formasi Tanjung, Cekungan Barito, Kalimantan Tengah melalui studi biomarka fraksi hidrokarbon alifatik pada sampel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sumber bahan organik, lingkungan pengendapan dan kematangan termal batubara guna penentuan potensi batubara sebagai sumber Coal Bed Methane (CBM). Analisis biomarka dilakukan dengan metode sokletasi, fraksinasi dan dilakukan identifikasi struktur dengan instrumen Kromatografi Gas-Spektroskopi Massa (KG-SM). Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya homolog n-alkana (n-C14–n-C35) yang didominasi oleh n-C29 dengan pola unimodal. Ditemukannya senyawa n-alkana, senyawa 8β(H)-homodriman, kelompok senyawa hopanoid yang menunjukkan masukan bahan organik tumbuhan tingkat tinggi dan bakteri. Rasio pristan terhadap fitana (Pr/Ph) dengan nilai 22,36 menunjukkan lingkungan pengendapan oksik hingga suboksik. Nilai CPI, OEP, moretana/hopana, C31-C3222S/(22S+22R), dan C29-C31βα/(αβ+βα) menunjukkan kematangan yang rendah. Rasio Pr/n-C17 terhadap Ph/n-C18 menunjukkan sampel termasuk kerogen tipe III (gas-prone). Oleh karena itu, batubara IL-07, Formasi Tanjung, Cekungan Barito berpotensi menghasilkan CBM di Indonesia.

Organic geochemistry characterization of IL-07 coal, Tanjung Formation, Barito Basin, Central Kalimantan through the study of aliphatic hydrocarbon fraction biomarkers in the sample. This study aims to determine the source of organic matter, depositional environment and thermal maturity of coal in order to determine the potential of coal as a source of Coal Bed Methane (CBM). Biomarker analysis was done using the soxhletation, fractionation method and structural identification with the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) instrument. The analysis result showed the presence of n-alkane homologs (n-C14–n-C35) which were dominated by n-C29 with a unimodal pattern. The existence of n-alkanes, 8β(H)-homodriman compounds, groups of hopanoid compounds that indicated organic matter masukans for higher plants and bacteria. The ratio of pristan to phytane (Pr/Ph) with a value of 22.36 indicates an oxic to suboxic depositional environment. CPI, OEP, moretana/hopana, C31-C32 22S/(22S+22R), and C29-C31βα/(αβ+βα) values showed low maturity. The ratio of Pr/n-C17 to Ph/n-C18 indicates that the sample belongs to type III kerogen (gas-prone). Therefore, IL-07 coal, Tanjung Formation, Barito Basin has the potential to produce CBM in Indonesia.
