Abstract

Pada penelitian ini telah disintesis katalis lantanum fosfat (LPH) dan lantanum seng fosfat (LZPH) dengan templat Heksametilentetramin (HMT) dan variasi mol Zn (0,025; 0,050; 0,075; 0,100; dan 0,150) melalui metode sol-gel. Padatan hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi dengan X-ray Diffraction (XRD), spektrofotometer Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), adsorpsi piridin-FTIR, adsorpsi-desorpsi nitrogen (N2), Scanning Electron Microscopy Energy Dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX). Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa katalis LPH dan LZPH memiliki struktur kristal heksagonal. Keasaman Lewis dan Brønsted pada katalis meningkat dengan adanya penambahan dopan Zn. Morfologi katalis LPH dan LZPH berbentuk butiran-butiran padat, permukaan kasar, dan berpori. Katalis hasil sintesis diaplikasikan untuk produksi 5-hidroksimetilfurfural (5-HMF) melalui reaksi konversi selulosa. Persentase yield tertinggi 5-HMF dengan reaktan selulosa, glukosa, dan fruktosa diperoleh masing-masing pada katalis LZPH1 (38,37%), LZPH5 (60,55%), dan LZPH4 (91,27%). Hasil 5-HMF dipengaruhi oleh keasaman, volume, dan diameter pori. Jalur reaksi menunjukkan bahwa beberapa produk 5-HMF terbentuk tanpa melalui jalur fruktosa.

In this research, lanthanum phosphate (LPH) and lanthanum zinc phosphate (LZPH) catalysts have been synthesized with Hexamethylenetetramin (HMT) templates and Zn mole variations (0.025; 0.050; 0.075; 0.100; and 0.150) using the sol-gel method. The synthesized solids were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrophotometer, pyridine adsorption-FTIR, nitrogen adsorption-desorption (N2), Scanning Electron Microscopy Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX). The characterization results showed that the LPH and LZPH catalysts had a hexagonal crystal structure. The Lewis and Brønsted acidity of the catalyst increases with the addition of Zn dopant. The morphology of the LPH and LZPH catalysts in the form of dense granules, rough surfaces and porous. The synthesized catalyst was applied for the production of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) through the cellulose conversion reaction. The highest yield percentages of 5-HMF with the initial reactants cellulose, glucose, and fructose were obtained on the catalyst LZPH1 (38.37%), LZPH5 (60.55%), LZPH4 (91.27%), respectively. Yield 5-HMF was affected by acidity, volume, and pore diameter. The reaction route showed that some of the 5-HMF products were formed without going through the fructose pathway.
