Abstract

===============================================================================================================================
Ponorogo district is known as an area that relies on the agricultural sector (agrarian) with a plantation area of 52,457 ha in 2015 and quite a variety of agricultural commodities. One of them is the porang plant which has recently emerged as a leading commodity in Indonesia. The porang plant (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume) is a type of tuber plant belonging to the Araceae family which has become the main plantation product with high economic value and has the potential to continue to be developed as an alternative to the main food source in Indonesia. In terms of agronomic aspects, porang plants are able to grow in areas with minimal water and with sufficient shade. Therefore, porang cultivation can be an alternative land use that was previously unproductive to turn into land with high economic value. A better understanding of the soil profile and nutrient content of tubers will increase the productivity yield of porang plants in Ponorogo. This research is descriptive qualitative by comparing the soil profile and the nutrient content of tubers in different porang plantations in Ponorogo Regency. The results obtained were in the form of physical characteristics of the soil at the three study locations belonging to the category of loam types and having relatively the same chemical characteristics. While the analysis of biological characteristics, the three study sites were dominated by 33 phyla of soil bacteria where the most dominant was Proteobacteria and was dominated by bacteria from the genus Bacillus. This is in line with the tuber proximate content and glucomannan content between the three porang plantation sample locations which were relatively the same which indicated a significant difference. Location N of porang tubers showed the highest glucomannan content, namely 20.38 ± 0.97%. However, the results of calcium oxalate levels from the three sample locations showed levels that were not significantly different between the three locations.
