Abstract

Tanaman kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) merupakan tanaman penghasil minyak nabati dengan produktivitas lebih tinggi dari pada tanaman penghasil minyak nabati lainnya. Indonesia sebagai salah satu negara penghasil kelapa sawit terbesar di dunia, dengan pertumbuhan kebutuhan minyak kelapa sawit yang semakin meningkat setiap tahunnya menyebabkan peningkatan limbah dari proses pengolahan kelapa sawit. Jenis limbah yang paling banyak dihasilkan yaitu tandan kosong kelapa sawit, namun pemanfaatannya masih terbatas. Pengolahan TKKS menjadi pupuk organik menjadi salah satu alternatif pemanfaatan limbah TKKS yang menumpuk dan secara ekonomis sebagai suplai unsur hara organik bagi tanaman. Akan tetapi sebelum TKKS diolah menjadi pupuk sebelumnya perlu adanya proses pengecilan TKKS dari yang berukuran kisaran panjangnya 25 cm – 30 cm menjadi 0,5 cm – 1 cm. Dari permasalahan tersebut maka dibuat sebuah alat pencacah limbah TKKS dengan kapasitas 100 kg/jam dengan melalui perhitungan elemen mesin. Langkah – langkah untuk memenuhi tujuan tersebut adalah : Studi Literatur, Observasi, Gambar Sket alat, Perhitungan dan Perancangan, Pengadaan Koponen, Perakitan, Uji coba Mesin, Pengambilan data setelah uji coba, kemudian Perhitungan daya dan gaya mesin TKKS. Dari hasil penelitian dan pengujian Gaya penggerak pulley poros diperoleh 35,2 kgf daDaya Penggerak pulley poros diperoleh 3,96 kW serta kapasitas mesin pencacah setelah diuji coba memperoleh hasil 96 kg/jam nilai tersebut tidak memenuhi atau tidak sesuai dengan permintaan yaitu 100 kg/jam dikarenakan hasil cacahan ada yang keluar melalui celah sambungan hooper yang membuat kurangnya hasil kapasitas serta menyebabkan polusi udara disekitar. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mengetahui kinerja masing-masing komponen serta mengetahui saran perbaikan untuk mesin pencacah tandan kosong kelapa sawit

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) is a vegetable oil producing plant with higher productivity than other vegetable oil producing plants. Indonesia as one of the largest palm oil producing countries in the world, with the growing need for palm oil which is increasing every year causing an increase in waste from the palm oil processing process. The type of waste that is mostly generated is empty palm fruit bunches, but its utilization is still limited. Processing OPEFB into organic fertilizer is an alternative to utilizing OPEFB waste that has accumulated economically and as a supply of organic nutrients for plants. However, before processing OPEFB into fertilizer, it is necessary to reduce OPEFB from 25 cm – 30 cm in length to 0.5 cm – 1 cm. Based on these problems, an OPEFB waste counter was created with a capacity of 100 kg/hour by calculating machine elements. The steps to fulfill these objectives are: Literature Study, Observation, Tool sketch, Calculation and Design, Procurement of Components, Assembling, Machine trials, Data collection after testing, then Calculation of OPEFB engine power and force. From the results of research and testing the drive force of the shaft pulley was obtained 35.2 kgf and the drive power of the shaft pulley was obtained 3.96 kW and the capacity of the chopper after being tested obtained results of 96 kg/hour, this value did not meet or did not comply with the request, namely 100 kg/hour hours due to the chopped results that come out through the hooper connection gap which causes a lack of capacity results and causes air pollution around. This research is expected to be able to determine the performance of each component and find suggestions for improvement for the empty palm fruit bunches chopping machine
