Abstract
Semakin meningkatnya kegiatan industri yang menggunakan mesin diesel menyebabkan konsumsi bahan bakar diesel semakin meningkat dan menyebabkan emisi yang dihasilkan juga meningkat. Biodiesel dapat digunakan sebagai bahan bakar alternatif mesin diesel yang mampu menggantikan bahan bakar fosil karena terbarukan, tetapi semakin tinggi jumlah campuran biodiesel maka emisi NOx juga semakin meningkat. Biodiesel B50 menghasilkan emisi NOx lebih besar 7,9% dibandingkan dengan solar murni. Biodiesel B50 juga memiliki nilai kalor yang lebih rendah daripada solar murni sehingga dapat menyebabkan penurunan performa mesin. Oleh karena itu, biodiesel dapat dilakukan pencampuran dengan minyak atsiri rhodinol dan rhodinol - CLO guna meningkatkan performa mesin dan untuk mengurangi emisi NOx yang dihasilkan. Tujuan dari tugas akhir ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan minyak atsiri rhodinol dan rhodinol – CLO pada properties bahan bakar biodiesel B50 serta menganalisis pengaruh penambahan minyak atsiri rhodinol dan rhodinol – CLO pada biodiesel B50 terhadap performa mesin dan emisi NOx yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini dilakukan berbasis eksperimen dengan menambahkan rhodinol dan rhodinol – CLO komposisi 1:1 pada biodiesel B50 menggunakan mesin diesel Yanmar TF – 85 MH. Pengujian emisi NOx dilakukan berdasarkan MARPOL Regulation 13 Annex VI. Dari hasil uji properties, nilai density, flash point, dan nilai kalor mengalami peningkatan dengan peningkatan tertinggi secara berturut – turut adalah 0,023%, 4,81%, dan 0.31% pada saat menggunakan B50 + Rhodinol + CLO. Hasil uji performa menunjukkan bahwa penambahan minyak atsiri rhodinol dan rhodinol – CLO pada biodiesel B50 dapat menghasilkan performa mesin yang lebih baik dilihat dari trendline kondisi full load SFOC terhadap RPM engine, daya terhadap RPM engine, dan torsi terhadap RPM engine dan mampu menurunkan emisi NOx yang dihasilkan oleh mesin diesel. Penurunan emisi NOx terbesar terjadi pada saat load 25% yaitu 39,15% pada saat menggunakan B50 + Rhodinol + CLO.

The increasing industrial activities that use diesel engines cause the consumption of diesel fuel to increase and cause the emissions produced to also increase. Biodiesel can be used as an alternative fuel for diesel engines which can replace fossil fuels because it is renewable, but the higher the amount of biodiesel mixed, the NOx emissions will also increase. B50 biodiesel produces 7.9% more NOx emissions compared to pure diesel. Biodiesel B50 also has a lower calorific value than pure diesel which can cause a decrease in engine performance. Therefore, biodiesel can be mixed with rhodinol and rhodinol - CLO essential oils to improve engine performance and to reduce the resulting NOx emissions. The purpose of this final project is to analyze the effect of adding rhodinol and rhodinol – CLO essential oils on the properties of B50 biodiesel fuel and to analyze the effect of adding rhodinol and rhodinol – CLO essential oils to B50 biodiesel on engine performance and the resulting NOx emissions. This research was conducted on an experimental basis by adding rhodinol and rhodinol – CLO in a 1:1 composition to B50 biodiesel using a Yanmar TF – 85 MH diesel engine. NOx emission testing is carried out based on MARPOL Regulation 13 Annex VI. From the results of the properties test, the values for density, flash point, and calorific value have increased with the highest increases respectively being 0.023%, 4.81%, and 0.31% when using B50 + Rhodinol + CLO. The performance test results showed that the addition of rhodinol and rhodinol – CLO essential oils to B50 biodiesel could produce better engine performance as seen from the trendline of full load SFOC conditions to engine RPM, power to engine RPM, and torque to engine RPM and was able to reduce NOx emissions that generated by diesel engines. The biggest reduction in NOx emissions occurs when the load is 25%, namely 39.15% when using B50 + Rhodinol + CLO.
