Abstract

Bahan bakar biodiesel merupakan energi alternatif yang dapat digunakan sebagai pengganti solar namun memiliki kandungan NOx yang tinggi. Untuk menurunkan tingginya kadar NOx yang dihasilkan dalam biodiesel, penambahan N-Propanol diharapkan dapat menurunkan emisi NOx dari biodiesel. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian kinerja dan emisi NOx dengan menggunakan biodiesel 50% (B50), 10% N-Propanol dan 90% biodiesel (B50), 15% N-Propanol dan 85% biodiesel(B50), dan 20% N-propanol dan 80% biodiesel (B50). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan menggunakan bahan bakar B50 murni, bahan bakar B50Pr10, bahan bakar B50Pr15, dan bahan bakar B50Pr20. Eksperimen ini meliputi uji karakteristik bahan bakar, uji performa bahan bakar, dan uji emisi NOx bahan bakar. Dari hasil uji performa yang dilakukan, diketahui bahwa performa bahan bakar B50 Murni memiliki hasil yang lebih optimal dibandingkan performa bahan bakar campuran B50 Murni dan N-Propanol. Daya pada bahan bakar B50Pr10, B50Pr15, dan B50Pr20 mengalami penurunan terhadap bahan bakar B50 murni sebesar 2,86%, 3,74%, dan 1,63%. Torsi yang dihasilkan bahan bakar B50 Murni lebih besar dari bahan bakar campuran B50Murni dan N-Propanol. Pada Bahan bakar B50Pr10, B50Pr15, dan B50Pr20 mengalami kenaikan SFOC terhadap B50 murni sebesar sebesar 15,43%, 15,9%, dan 20,19 %. Performa bahan bakar campuran B50 dan N-Propanol cenderung lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan bahan bakar B50 murni yang disebabkan karena nilai kalor dan angka setana yang lebih rendah. Dari hasil uji emisi NOx, diperoleh bahan bakar B50Pr10, B50Pr15, dan B50Pr20 memiliki kadar emisi NOx yang lebih rendah dibandingkan bahan bakar B50 murni. Bahan bakar B50Pr10 dapat menurunkan kadar emisi NOx sebesar 10% , bahan bakar B50Pr15 dapat menurunkan kadar emisi NOx sebesar 7%, dan bahan bakar B50Pr20 dapat mengurangi kadar emisi NOx sebesar 11%. Bahan bakar yang diuji pada eksperimen ini memenuhi persyaratan MARPOL annex VI regulasi 13 pada tingkat tier III.

Biodiesel fuel is an alternative energy that can be used as a substitute for diesel but has a high NOx content. To reduce the high levels of NOx produced in biodiesel, the addition of N-Propanol is expected to reduce NOx emissions from biodiesel. In this study, performance and NOx emissions were tested using 50% biodiesel (B50), 10% N-Propanol and 90% biodiesel (B50), 15% N-Propanol and 85% biodiesel (B50), and 20% N-propanol. and 80% biodiesel (B50). The research method used is an experiment using pure B50 fuel, B50Pr10 fuel, B50Pr15 fuel, and B50Pr20 fuel. This experiment includes fuel characteristic tests, fuel performance tests, and fuel NOx emission tests. From the results of the performance tests conducted, it is known that the performance of Pure B50 fuel has more optimal results than the performance of Pure B50 and N-Propanol mixed fuel. Power on B50Pr10, B50Pr15, and B50Pr20 fuel decreased compared to pure B50 fuel by 2.86%, 3.74%, and 1.63%. The torque produced by Pure B50 fuel is greater than that of a mixture of Pure B50 and N-Propanol. The B50Pr10, B50Pr15, and B50Pr20 fuels experienced an increase in SFOC compared to pure B50 of 15.43%, 15.9% and 20.19%. The performance of mixed B50 and N-Propanol fuel tends to be lower than that of pure B50 fuel due to the lower heating value and cetane number. From the results of the NOx emission test, B50Pr10, B50Pr15, and B50Pr20 fuels had lower NOx emission levels than pure B50 fuel. B50Pr10 fuel can reduce NOx emission levels by 10%, B50Pr15 fuel can reduce NOx emission levels by 7%, and B50Pr20 fuel can reduce NOx emission levels by 11%. The fuel tested in this experiment met the requirements of MARPOL annex VI regulation 13 at tier III level.
