Abstract

Aluminium mengalami modifikasi untuk meningkatkan sifat mekaniknya dengan memadukan unsur lain seperti Si, Fe, Cu, Mn, Mg, dan Zn. Si dan Mg ditambahkan untuk menambah daya tahan terhadap korosi, Fe untuk mencegah terjadinya penyusutan, Cu untuk menambah kekuatan, dan Mn untuk memperbaiki mampu bentuk. Salah satu seri ialah Al 6061 merupakan material yang banyak digunakan untuk bahan baku komponen otomotif. Material ini, memiliki sifat tahan terhadap korosi dan mudah diproses menjadi bentuk yang diinginkan serta mempunyai unjuk kerja yang sesuai untuk beberapa komponen yang tidak memerlukan kekuatan tinggi. Metode yang digunakan untuk melapisi atau melindungi Al 6061 secara optimal antara lain dengan proses anodizing. Didalam melakukan penelitian ini dibahas bagaimana pengaruh variasi beda potensial dan waktu saat proses anodizing Al 6061 terhadap pengujian ketebalan lapisan SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). Anodizing proses pelapisan dengan senyawa kimia guna melindungi material. Proses Anodizing dimulai dari material Al 6061 dipotong sesuai dengan standart alat SEM. Pada tahap selanjutnya Al 6061 dilakukan Degresing. Setelah itu, dilakukan Etching dan Desmutting. Selanjutnya proses Anodizing dimana Al 6061 diberi perlakuan dengan variasi beda potensial 10V, 12V, 14V dan waktu 10menit, 15menit, 20menit, 25menit, 30menit. Setelah proses Anodizing dilakukan Drying dengan warna diinginkan dan Sealing pada temperature ruang (30 oC). Jika sudah lalu dilakukan pengujian SEM tujuannya untuk mengetahui secara mudah melihat objek yang lebih kecil sehingga dapat dianalisis dan sifat isolatif material Al 6061. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ketebalan lapisan terbaik pada anodizing variasi 10V, 12V, dan 14V sebesar 12,200µm, 14,360µm, dan 15,580µm. Waktu anodizing terbaik pada variasi 10V, 12V, dan 14V selama 15menit dan 20menit. Sehingga semakin tinggi beda potensial dan semakin lama waktu anodizing maka akan membentuk nilai ketebalan lapisan yang semakin tinggi. Dari hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mengetahui pengaruh variasi beda potensial 10V, 12V, dan 14V dan waktu pada proses anodizing terhadap ketebalan lapisan aluminium 6061.

Aluminum has been modified to improve its mechanical properties by combining other elements such as Si, Fe, Cu, Mn, Mg, and Zn. Si and Mg are added to increase corrosion resistance, Fe to prevent shrinkage, Cu to increase strength, and Mn to improve formability. One of the series is Al 6061 which is a material that is widely used as raw material for automotive components. This material, has properties resistant to corrosion and is easy to process into the desired shape and has the appropriate performance for some components that do not require high strength. The method used to optimally coat or protect Al 6061 includes the anodizing process. In conducting this research, it was discussed how the effect of variations in potential difference and time during the Al 6061 anodizing process on the SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) coating thickness test. Anodizing is a coating process with a chemical compound to protect the material. The anodizing process starts from the Al 6061 material which is cut according to the standard SEM tool. In the next step, Al 6061 is degressed. After that, Etching and Desmutting is done. Then the Anodizing process where Al 6061 was treated with variations of potential difference of 10V, 12V, 14V and time of 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 25 minutes, 30 minutes. After the Anodizing process, Drying is carried out with the desired color and Sealing at room temperature (30oC). If the SEM test has been carried out, the aim is to find out which objects are smaller so that they can be analyzed and the insulating properties of the Al 6061 material. The results of this study showed that the best coating thickness for anodizing variations of 10V, 12V, and 14V was 12,200µm, 14,360µm, and 15,580µm. The best anodizing time for 10V, 12V and 14V variations is 15 minutes and 20 minutes. So that the higher the difference and the longer the anodizing time, the higher the potential layer thickness value will be formed. From the results of this study it is expected to be able to determine the effect of variations in potential difference of 10V, 12V, and 14V and time in the anodizing process on the thickness of the 6061 aluminum layer.
