Abstract

Coral reefs are the most productive ecosystems in the waters because of their enormous biodiversity. One group of corals that can be found in Indonesia, namely the Agariciidae family with characteristics of massive, submassive, foliose and encrusting colonies, flat or sunken corallites with walls that do not develop. Global climate change, including in the form of increasing sea surface temperatures, changes in dry and rainy season periods can affect the resilience of coral reefs which makes them susceptible to disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the type of disease and prevalence of coral disease in the Agariciidae family in Bungatan District, Situbondo. Sampling locations include the tourist area of Pasir Putih Beach (Batu Lawang), the non-tourism area of Kembangsambi (shrimp ponds) and the area of grouper cultivation (using KJA). Observation of coral reefs at a depth of 5 meters and 10 meters, using the Belt Transect method along 30 meters with a width of 1 meter on each side with 3 replications and a distance of 10 meters for each replication. In each coral colony of the Agariciidae family, the presence or absence of disease was observed and identification of the type of coral disease was carried out. It is known that White Spot Disease attacks the Pachyseris genus among other genera. The prevalence results at the Batu Lawang location at a depth of 5 and 10 meters were 66.67% and 94.44% respectively. The prevalence at the Kembangsambi location at 5 and 10 meters depth and 5 meter KJA is 100%. Meanwhile, the 10 meter KJA location has the lowest prevalence value, which is 60%.
