Abstract

This study examines the local vibration characteristics and aspects of lightweight structures in the second deck of the engine room of a ship. The second deck of the engine room is a critical area where various machinery and equipment are installed, and its structural integrity and vibration performance are of utmost importance to the safety and operational efficiency of the entire ship. Recommendations for lightweight construction are given based on the results of numerical simulations and experimental measurements. This includes using advanced lightweight materials such as composites and optimizing structural configurations to increase stiffness while minimizing mass. In addition, vibration mitigation strategies such as applying damping treatments and implementing elastic mounts have been proposed to reduce the transmission of vibrations to the second deck.
