Abstract

Vegetation indices using remote sensing has been applied for one of which is to know the health of a certain vegetation. Chlorophyll content can be used as an indicator to find out productivity and health status of a certain plant. Mangrove forest ecosystem area in Kalimireng River, Gresik has a high species density of mangroves. This research aims to kow the chlorophyll content of mangrove species in two stations in the Kalimireng mangrove forest area with non-destructive method using SPAD-502 Plus Chlorophyll Meter and NDVI from the Sentinel-2 satelite. Chlorophyll content data that has been acquired from those two methods are then analyzed for their correlation. The result of SPAD measurement from 17 different mangrove species has a value ranging from 40.5 to 67.3, or 31.2 to 78.2 microgram/cm2. After observing using Sentinel-2 imaging and processed using Google Earth Engine (GEE), the average value of NDVI are acquired on station 1 is 0.526 and on station 2 is 0.546. With the coefficient of determination (R2) of the red-edge position model having an average below 0.1. The result indicates that there are no correlation between chlorophyll content measurements using SPAD-502 Plus Chlorophyll Meter and NDVI data from Sentinel-2 satellite image processing.
