Abstract

Indonesia adalah negara agraris dan bertumpu pada sektor pertanian. Untuk mendukung peningkatan sektor tersebut, Indonesia telah memimiliki beberapa industri pupuk yang terus berinovasi dalam mencapai optimalisasi kapasitas produksi. Saat ini Indonesia juga tercatat sebagai negara produsen pupuk terbesar di Asia Tenggara. Namun, untuk memenuhi kapasitas produksi pupuk dalam negeri, Indonesia masih bergantung pada impor bahan baku. Salah satu bahan baku utama yang masih banyak diimpor oleh industri pupuk di Indonesia adalah asam fosfat. Maka dari itulah untuk mengantisipasi semakin meningkatnya impor asam fosfat, PT. Petrokimia Gresik sebagau salah satu pabrik pupuk terbesar dan terlengkap di Indonesia memiliki inisiatif untuk menjalin kerjasama dengan Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) dari Kerajaan Yordania. Perusahaan asal Yordania ini bergerak dalam bidang pertambangan batuan fosfat, yang mana negara Yordania sendiri memang terkenal akan kekayaan sumber daya batuan fosfat dan merupakan pemasok batuan fosfat terbesar kedua di dunia.
