Abstract

Ethanol is the raw material most often used as a solvent for the production of cooking oil. Ethanol can be produced from renewable agricultural resources, thus achieving total independence from petroleum-based alcohols. Ethanol is often used as an appropriate alcohol for transesterification of vegetable oils due to its much higher solubility for oils. Flow rate monitoring systems for ethanol were developed to improve refining processes in oil production. This tool is equipped with IoT (Internet of Things) displayed through the Android screen which can function for real-time flow rate monitoring. Tool testing is performed by comparing ethanol flow rate input with a predetermined set point. This tool is made to increase efficiency in making cooking oil that is more compact and cheaper and helps the Indonesian economy. This monitoring system has an average error reading error of 1.731%, an average accuracy of 95.0322%, and an average precision of 93%. Real plant conditions are also compared to the HYSYS simulator and get HYSYS readings of data retrieval conditions per second, then at set point 9 has a rise time (tr) value = 4.418 s and settling time (ts) = 15.1905 s, peak time = 4.901 s, overshoot = 0.084% and steady-state error of 0,21s compared to real plants that have minimal overshoot and are in a stable state.
