Abstract
PT. Moya Multi Sarana have been a supplier in several clinics and hospitals for gynecological latex gloves. In the middle of 2021, the company decided to develop its own production for this latex glove. By producing the gloves and directly selling them to the existing customer, the company hopes to get a higher profit margin. However, being a beginner as a latex glove manufacturer the company have a defect rate of 10% in the 2022 production year. Therefore, quality improvement concept is used with the help of DMAIC. There are four defects in the production process which are adhesion, thin, discoloration, and pinhole. Even though adhesion is the highest defect that occurs in the production process, all four defect needs to be addressed as they all contribute to the defect rate. Using the cause and effect diagram, it is then discovered the main reason for the defect are because of the manual production process. Because of the inconsistency, Poka Yoke and Automation proofs to be the appropriate to decrease human error problems. Suggestions created included modification to the existing process by using semi-automated systems to prevent defect from happening as well as proposing a new standard operating procedure (SOP) for the workers.
