Abstract

Terumbu karang merupakan biota laut dengan tingkat produktivitas tinggi dan berperan penting bagi ekosistem. Per-tahun 2019, sebanyak 33,82% terumbu karang di Indonesia berada dalam kondisi rusak atau buruk, sehingga perlu dilakukan kegiatan pelestarian dan pengembangan. Salah satu metode untuk merehabilitasi terumbu karang adalah dengan transplantasi karang. Coral nursery tree (CNT) dan Fragment rack (FR) merupakan model pembibitan (nursery) yang dapat digunakan sebelum fragmen karang ditransplantasikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan membandingkan kelangsungan hidup (kesintasan) dan laju pertumbuhan fragmen karang Acropora muricata yang ditanam dengan menggunakan metode Coral nursery tree (CNT) dan Fragment rack (FR) di Pasir Putih, Bungatan – Situbondo. Masing-masing 25 unit fragmen A. muricata akan dibibitkan dengan metode CNT dan FR pada kedalaman 4-5 meter selama 4 bulan dengan variabel pengamatan adalah laju pertambahan panjang dan jumlah percabangan. Laju pertumbuhan fragmen karang pada FR sebesar 1,182 cm/bulan, dengan kesintasan 88%. Sementara, laju pertumbuhan fragmen karang pada CNT sebesar 1,214 cm/bulan, dengan kesintasan 84%. Fragmen karang Acropora muricata yang dibibitkan di FR memiliki rata-rata 9,27 cabang, sementara, rata-rata jumlah cabang pada keseluruhan fragmen karang di CNT berjumlah 9,12 cabang. Berdasarkan hasil uji Mann-Whitney diketahui bahwa nilai signifikansi untuk laju pertambahan panjang adalah 0,661 dan nilai signifikansi untuk pertambahan cabang adalah 0,703. Nilai ini menunjukkan bahwa laju pertambahan panjang dan pertambahan cabang tidak berbeda secara signifikan (sig. > 0,05).

Coral reefs are marine biota with a high level of productivity and play an important role in the ecosystem. As of 2019, 33.82% of coral reefs in Indonesia were in the damaged or bad category, so it is necessary to carry out conservation and development activities. One method that can be used to rehabilitate damaged coral reefs is through coral transplantation. Coral nursery tree (CNT) and fragment rack (FR) are nursery models that can be used before transplanting coral fragments. This study aims to determine and compare the survival and growth rate of coral fragments of Acropora muricata planted using the coral nursery tree (CNT) and fragment rack (FR) methods in Pasir Putih, Bungatan – Situbondo. Each of the 25 units of A. muricata fragments will be spawned by the CNT and FR methods at a depth of 4-5 meters for 4 months with the observed variables being the rate of increase in length and the number of branches. The growth rate of coral fragments at FR was 1,182 cm/month, with a survival rate of 88%. Meanwhile, the growth rate of coral fragments in CNT was 1,214 cm/month, with a survival rate of 84%. The Acropora muricata coral fragments spawned in FR had an average of 9,27 branches, while the total number of branches in all coral fragments in CNT was only 9,12 branches. Based on the results of the Mann-Whitney test it is known that the significance value for the rate of increase in length is 0,661 and the significance value for the number of branches is 0.703. This value indicates that the rate of increase in length and the number of branching between two different nursery methods are not significantly different (sig. > 0,05).
